That's fine, but don't sit yet. Keep up the pressure on the government and the Health Service Restructuring Committee. Make them see the distances that are involved with going out of the county for care. Make them understand the weather we have to drive through in the winter just to get to Picton let alone try to go further. Tell them of the care and support that you are able to give family members and friends who are in a hospital that would be lost if they were in a hospital out of the county. As many of you have, we just finished a week of daily trips to Kingston. That is a long haul and to do it every day while someone was in a hospital for an extended period is very stressful. Even driving to Belleville every day is not easy if it is added to all the other responsibilities one has. But we have the means of transportation so we could do it. There are those who do not have transportation. But you have heard all this and understand. Now it is up to us to make sure that the government understands. In spite of all the other things going on in our lives and around us, we have managed to get some seeds planted and some Canna Lilies into pots. On inspecting the flower beds the tulips and daffodils are up and doing nicely even with the ice, snow and frost they've had. We went to a garden centre the other day just to look around and smell the smells of spring. Before we know it, we'll be knees deep in grass and wishing for snow to slow it down. We are going to put up a little greenhouse to get some plants started in and so that Clifford can enjoy what he loves most, gardening. Speaking of Clifford, he has had the cataract removed from one eye and is able to see the world again. His chemo-therapy went well with fewer of the side effects than was expected. Although he is tired and still not able to tackle unloading hay, he is doing okay. Trying to keep him out of crowds and away from people with colds and the sniffles is not the easiest thing to do, but we try. And he is enjoying not going to work. He is actually enjoying fixing the storm door and getting to the piddly repairs that he has had to put off because of work. He just might enjoy being retired. Have a Happy Easter and enjoy the spring. - Bev Walker (ONAING ty U.C.W.general will be a pot luck lunch at 12 noon at South Bay Church Hall on Monday, April 6th.
