(Wendy Maclsaac will be featured on fiddle.) Lamond sings exclusively in Gaelic the rhythmic work songs that were becoming lost to all but the older Cape Bretoners and has emerged at the Vanguard of a Celtic cultural renaissance. "Suase!" was shouted out as words of encouragement to the women singing these originally a cappella songs and although most listeners won't understand the Gaelic words, (songs of love, labour and laments) the feeling comes across with the beautiful ache in Mary Jane's rich soothing voice. With affection, understanding, and deep regard for the people and culture she has stayed true to the roots of Cape Breton Gaelic "mouth music" yet has managed to bring an accessible contemporary reinterpretation to this age old tradition.
