They couldn't complain or have a bad day, lest they upset those they were staying with and were put in the "home'. We complain because we are paying so much in taxes but at least we have the income to pay the tax on. We may be only able to afford one VCR and a trip to Florida in the winter is becoming more difficult because of the health plan we have to buy, but we are light years away from where my grandparents were in the fifties. Maybe as we grow older we have to practice some economies but at least we have an income to be economical with and our children needn't share us around. Well, all in all, the summer is a good one. Clifford is going to retire someday. Hopefully in December. We are going to build that little greenhouse he's always wanted. We may even take a trip next summer if we can get someone to look after the three cows we hope to be down to by then. Well maybe not in the summer because of the garden. But next fall would be Just as nice. We have projects ahead to last a lifetime or two and as we complete those we'll come up with new ones. Summer is the time when you really appreciate all those in the community who work at making it a great place to live. There's the volunteers who organize the various levels of ball for kids of all ages. There's the ones who are overseeing the renovations to Mount Tabor that are going along so well. There are the ones who have organized summer programmes for children at the library. And there are all the people who have planted flowers and kept up their property to make travel in the township such a feast for the eyes. There are the ones who gave us such a successful dance at the Shed. There are the ones who are helping to organize the events at the Mariners' Memorial Museum and Park.
