b IHRE NG EET rm ee i ey pe TT "MADWOMEN" Continued from page | "The "Madwomen" will be in concert at Mt. Tabor Playhouse on Saturday, May 10th at 8 p.m. in a concert that will feature some new material, as well as some old favourites. "The concert coincides with the first day of the Birders' Festival", Janet says, "so we thought we'd include some of the legends, stories and songs that deal with Prince Edward County folklore and history. Most people who visit this area have no idea that there is such rich historical heritage." Janet, Suzanne Pasternak and Emily Fennell developed a lot of historical material in "Tall Tales and Other True Stories from the Great Lakes" with David Archibald; Suzanne is author and composer of the folk opera "Minerva" and recently documented the vanishing way of life of the Lake Ontario fishermen in the film "Vanishing Legacy", Janet and Jeanette Arsenault have told County stories in "Tabletalk - Tales from a County Kitchen" and Emily Fennell has been a perennial and popular vocal addition to concerts and shows throughout the area. "We've also invited Lenni Stewart along", Janet says. "We haven't worked with her before and it will be fun to add her jazzy, bluesy vocals to the mix. She actually lives in Athol Township, but she says she plans on getting married in South Marysburgh, so that qualifies her as a "madwoman" right off the bat." Those who are already familiar with the historically-based material can be assured that they will hear something new too. "Suzanne, Jeanette and I recently premiered "Good Night Sweetheart" at the Regent Theatre with an excellent response, and we'll be including some of the material from that show. As well, we all have material we've been working on as individual performers and the audience can expect to hear some of that too." As usual, every performance at Mt. Tabor Playhouse helps support the Flush Fund, which will be used this summer to renovate the back end of Mt. Tabor Playhouse and provide indoor plumbing, much to the relief of regular patrons. Tickets for "The Madwomen of Marysburgh in Concert" are $8 and are available at Books on the Bay, Picton; Hicks' General Store, Milford; and at the door. "It may be for the Birders," Janet says, "but it won't be for the birds!" ei The next meeting of the SOUTH MARYSBURGH FAIRBOARD is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 7:30 pm at the Co Milford Town Hall.
