Jean Burrows, Vice- president, welcomed the ladies with a timely thought "The secret of happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles." Thought for the day was given by Muriel Rorabeck "We are one Family". Eleven members answered the roll call by telling the farthest point their Christmas mail goes. The minutes of the October meeting were read by the secretary, June Miller. Jean thanked all those who had arranged and came to the ladies night out, dinner in Picton, also all those who helped with the Harvest Tea. A vote by ballot revealed that the ladies chose Florence Wierstra as the lady who had helped the most during this year and her name will be added to the plaque. Collection, donations to Christian Children's fund "Treats for Happiness" birthday offering were received. Treasurer's report was given by treasurer Wilma Creasy. It was moved by Margaret Crouse and seconded by Joanne Brearley that all outstanding bills be paid. Card report was given by Shirley McCaw. Announcement was made of the 4H achievement night by June Miller as she read correspondence from those who sent thank-you letters. It was moved by June Miller and seconded by Alice Miller that we make our annual donations to Christian Children's Fund. Salvation Army Picton, Ann Farewell Library, South Marysburgh Recreation, Marysburgh Mummers, Children's Aid, Almost Home Kingston, Prince Edward Memorial Hospital, Community Care and GIFT. Margaret Crouse moved and Shirley McCaw seconded that we buy a memorial wreath to be placed at the cenotaph next vear. It was moved by Muriel Rorabeck and seconded by Wilma Creasy that a gift be presented to each member on their 25th, 40th. 45th, 50th wedding Anniversary. Quilting time was arranged for our Friendship quilts. Suggestions were handed in for our 1997 programs. Lieutenant David Allen explained to us about the activities and the needs of the Picton Salvation Army and thanked the ladies for their quilts which they have been donating. The hostesses Jean Burrows and Shirley McCaw were thanked for their delicious lunch by Margaret Crouse ... Lieutenant Allen was presented with three Friendship quilts by Margery Drury. Arrangements were made for the Christmas pot-luck in December.
