| The South Marysburgh Mirror MILFORD COMMUNITY FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE NOTES Milford Community Friendship Circle ladies held their June meeting in the South Marysburgh Township Hall. President, Dora Barth, welcomed the ladies with her gem for the day "The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity - the optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." The nineteen members answered the roll call by telling "where they would like to go." The minutes for the May meeting were read by the secretary, June Miller. Collection was received toward expenses of the Circle, birthday offering and treats for happiness for the Christian Children's Fund of Canada. Thought for the day "Friendship grows in a garden" was read by Muriel Rorabeck. The treasurer's report was given by the treasurer, Wilma Creasy. Card report was given by Shirley McCaw. The correspondence was read by June Miller including thank-you cards for gifts received from Circle and cards sent to shut-ins, birthdays. wedding anniversaries and sympathy cards sent because of death of family members. We were invited for our July meeting, on Tuesday, July 23rd, to the home of our president, Dora Barth A motion that we pay all out-standing bills was made by Mary Parsons and seconded by Muriel Rorabeck. Several ladies will be attending the quilt show. Our first guest speaker was Senior Constable Greg Richardson of the Quinte detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. He explained some rules for us to follow in order to protect our homes, also what to do and not to do when we are faced with intruders. Our second guest was Constable Jennifer Tompkins who gave us some statistics on what was going on in our community and about the involvement of the neighbourhood watch program. A time for questions and answers followed. Vice-President, Jean Burrows, thanked the officers and presented them with a cheque for their favourite charity, the Katie Graham fund. Margery Drury thanked the hostesses, Marie Kavanagh and Effie Ross for the delicious lunch.
