The Movie Classification System A piece of provincial legislature known as the Theatres Act, has set out a system of classifications for films. The classifications are as follows: The classification of films is determined by the Ontario Film Review Board under the authority given to this board by the Theatres Act of Ontario. FAMILY: (F)afllm with this classifications is appropriate for viewing by people of all ages. PARENTAL GUIDANCE: (PG) TA PG classification means the film may contain a limited portrayal of non-graphic violence, brief nudity in a non-sexual context, limited embracing in aloving context and the occasional use of mild expletives. In general, a PG classification is a warning to parents that while unaccompanied children will be admitted to the theatre, the contents may not be suitable for all children. Parents are advised to exercise discretion in considering this category for their children. ADULT ACCOMPANIMENT: (AA) viewing of this film is restricted to people fourteen years of age or older or to people younger than fourteen when accompanied by an SCL] The AA classification serves as a stronger warning t parents. Films classified AA are not recommended fc most children but the final decision is left to the parent. Such films may contain limited nudity and sexu: involvement, coarse or offensive language, or violen prolonged hand-to-hand combat.
