PAGE B THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME 1, ISSUE 4 Nominations being accepted for Halton Hills Sports Hall of Fame The Halton Hills Sports Museum is seeking nominees for the 2023 induction into the Sports Hall of Fame. According to the Sports Museum Selection Commit- tee, anyone who is or has been a distinguished athlete or as an executive member or coach or team or who has brought honour to Halton Hills is eligible for a nomination to the Hall of Fame. This is providing that the nominee was a resident of Halton Hills (or historically a resident of the former Esquesing Township, Town of Acton, or Town of Georgetown) at the time of the achievement. The Sports Museum began inducting individuals and teams in 2007 and has since recognized over 7! inductees in the Sports Hall of Fame. Nominations for 2023 are being accepted until Friday, February 24th. Acelebration honouring the inductees will be held at the Gordon Alcott Hall, Mold-Masters Sportsplex in Georgetown on Thursday, June 8th. February is Black History Month, Town of Halton Hills encourages residents to participate in programs The Town of Halton Hills is encouraging residents to celebrate the significance of Black History Month by partaking in a series of experiential and educational programs. Presented by the Halton Hills Public Library and the Town of Halton Hills, this is an oppor- tunity for residents to experience work by Black artists, authors, and creators. As part of Black History Month, residents can participate in a creative experience, read a featured book at the Town's libraries or visit the Cultural Centre to explore original artwork by Sheryl Keen. Mayor Ann Lawlor recognized Black History Month at the January 23 Council meeting, and invited the public to participate in programs which spotlight Black creativity.
