The South Marysburgh Mirror OE LIBRARY We're Back! Great news! Our Milford Library has opened its doors. We can once again browse the shelves, chat with the librarians, and attend our favourite clubs and groups which meet at the Ann Far- well Library. Our librarians did an extraordinary job dur- ing the pandemic, getting our books to us, curating the collections and, as always, choosing exciting new reads, all in very trying circumstanc- es. But now, it’s business as usual. The Milford Book Club very much enjoyed a new novel by County mystery writer, S.M. Hurley (the pseudonym of retired Coun- ty lawyer, Shelagh Mathers). The Sevens (Cressy Lakeside Books, 2020) is the second of Hurley’s books to feature Prince Edward County Crown Attorney, Augie de Graaf, who is instrumental in solv- ing the murder of a research- er at the Vanguard Innova- tion Institute. The County settings and the twists and turns of the plot make fora really good read. In fact, the group purchased a book club set of The Sevens for the li- brary and enjoyed a wonder- ful meeting with the author. The Friends of the Ann Far- well Library have also re- sumed their meetings. The Friends support our library in a number of ways, like fund- raising for improvements to our library building. They also participate in a number of community activities like the Milford Fair — back again in 2022! — the Soapbox Derby and the library Halloween and Christmas celebrations. This year, we'll join with the other branches in sponsoring author events. The Friends meet on the third Thursday of each month. If you'd like to get involved, drop in or call the library (613 476-4130) or contact Dorothy at 613 476-8435.
