ls |, The South Marysburgh Mirror] For Old Times Sake - from page 6 West on Cty. Rd. 33 from Wellington to Cold Creek Rd, and ajog onto Bakker gives public access to a beach where folks also walk their dogs. New home owners there tried to deny public access but you certainly have the right to use it, as Mon- ica pointed out, and many folks do. Huycks' Pt. Rd. is used similarly, and so is Pleasant Bay Rd. with its public access. On the south side of Cty. Rd. 27 across from North Beach entry there's a pathway that many use for free access to Pleasant Bay but if you park on the road, locals may walk in to North Beach Park for free, or bicycle in. When you think of it, the provin- cial government took possession of our County parks and have consequently put fees up so high as to keep out the poor and/or elderly. There should be a free pass given to every County- bom resident, doncha agree? Had you stayed on Cty. Rd. 13, you would have reached Waupoos where there is a government dock for boats, also ap- ple orchards, wineries, blueberry picking to add to your cooler, and Fifth Towne Cheese round the next hom, not to mention all the wonderful artisans along the way which make a horn-trip that much more exciting and fullfilliing. Prinyer's Cove, public launch area, is off Bayside Rd., as is Land's End Lane on this Pleasant Point. Heading back toward Picton along the north shore, Cty. Rd. 8 has become Cty. Rd. 7 and takes you to Lake on the Moun- tain. You can look over the cliff and watch the Glenora Ferry below, or walk across the road and look at Lake on the Moun- tain that always maintains the same depth. There are nice benches on the walkway to rest on after your ions drive, and a great restaurant next door with an outdoor pati Picton has a marina on Head Street, and lawns to siton. The Yacht Club has a government dock for launching. If you head down Hwy. 49 from Picton to Green Point to- ward the bridge and turn left on #15, you come to Northport which has a public launch, and is a lovely country drive. Con- tinuing on #15 can take you to Big Island, across a marshland causeway to a launch. You can take #15 right over to Hwy. 62. Should you turn right it will take you almost to Belleville to Massassauga Point Rd. where you will experience a most beautiful horn drive to the conservation area. You can set up your lawnchairs there, and walk through the serene trails. Be- fore you reach there, you will come upon Peat's Point Road which has a small launch area, too, Inland, Roblin Lake has a public beach on their small lake with launch and canteen. It's always fun to stop at a canteen for old time's sake. For Goodness Sake, just enjoy your Horn-trip where-ever it takes you, and have a safe and exciting one. Happy Retirement. - Karen I.
