|The South Marysburgh Mirror Community Friendship Circle The Thursday, June 4th h meeting was held at the home of Jean Burrows at 1:30 pr President Marg Crouse opened the meeting with this thought - Marriage is like your job. It's easy if you like your boss. Jean Burrows had several interesting anecdotes for Thought for the Day. One described the benefits of tea, another Bar- ara Cortland's rules for women in the 1950's, and a poem entitled June from Edwardian Time. Maureen Rudd read the minutes for the May meeting in the absence of secretary Marge. Not surprisingly, they were ac- cepted as usual. Nine members answered roll call with Sing, Say or Pay. Collection was taken and our meager finances reported from treasurer Wilma. Luckily, we had no bills to pay. Marg closed the meeting with a reading entitled The Last Nickle. We had a very interesting program by Marta Smith who presented many types of dolls she makes. She was in- troduced and thanked by Monica Alyea. The ladies then sated themselves on the scrumptious feast prepared by Jean and handily thanked by Marg Purcell. Ladies please note - there will be no meetings in July and Aug. Also the September meeting will be at Barb Balsillie's (instead of Marg Purcell's). South Bay UCW UCW met at South Bay United Church hall on Wed. June 17 at 1:30pm. President Sandra Emlaw opened with a story of a little boy in irons climbing a hill. When a man expressed sympathy at his plight, the little boy looked upon it as an adventure as he had never been that high be- fore. Our theme hymn, purpose and Lord's prayer fol- lowed. Irene Robb's devotional opened with a reading by Swami Krysalvanandaji followed by scripture from Ephe- sians 3, verses 14 t 019. We then had a circle of meditation ending with acircle of prayer. Joyce Minaker gave a report indicating our treasury is in healthy condition.
