May, 2008 Ue Sout Any Spa ANI OT Published for and about local people and events oo VOLUME XXII, Number 5 Milford’s Sixth Annual Easter Parade An Amazing Event! This year’s parade was an outstanding success even though the week leading up to the event was filled with anxious moments and snow removal. While the sun shone brightly, the temperatures were well below zero but the children and the adults arrived in great numbers. This year to highlight Milford 200 Councilor Monica Alyea led the parade in period costume and Mil- ford 200 flags made by the Bloomers were given out. Sur- rounded by snow banks, the Easter egg hunt and the Pifiata handcrafted by Trish Dubyk were a big hit with the chil- ren. Amazing Loonie hotdogs and delicious hot choco- late were once again very popular. This event could not take place without a long list of volunteers and sponsors. The Bloomers Black Crick Chicks are Back ...and looking for more. For the second year in a row members of the Black Creek Community, headed by captain Barb Guernsey, are go- ing to be walking in the 12 hour over night walk for the Relay for Life. This event is held at Loyalist College and runs from 7pm on Friday June 20 till 7am Saturday June 21. Team members take turns throughout the 12 hour span to be sure that at least one team member is on the track to walk at all times. Last year there were 12 members who had an absolute blast. Surely everyone who attended last years event heard the chant of "We're from the country but we're not hicks, We go by the name of the Black Crick Chicks" some- time throughout the night. And if they weren't heard they were at least seen in their bright yellow shirts with "chick" hats. What a great time it was. You too can be part of this years event. There are 6 team members so far. There is a commitment required of $10 participation fee, $100 in dona- tions and 12 hours of being at Loyalist College. Each mem- bers is not required to be on the track at all times but it's nice to be at the site for support of the rest of the team. If at all in- terested please call Barb at 613-476-3757 or sign up for the team at www.cancer.ca. Please support your community! This is a great time to meet new people or even find out more about the neigh- bours you've know for years. You'll be glad you joined! Fair Board Meetings All meetings are on Wednesday at 7:30 in the Town Hall. May 14; June 11; July 9; August 13; September 3; October 8; and the Annual Gen- eral Meeting is November 12. The Fair this year is on September 13. @ @ nside {his Issue... @ More Than You Wanted To Know 5 @ Phew 7 @ Roots and Wings 9 @ Druella Acantha Malvina 11 @ Have You Ever Wondered? 13 @ Life in the Past 18
