It was a nice and warm day. Looks very much like rain. We haven't had any snow yet to make sleighing. Still very warm weather for this time of year. Paw went out to Annie Mauds. Maw is out there. She has been out there since December 31. Jan. 4 Election. Nelson Hudgins and David Mckibbon of Southburgh and Nelson Rose of Northburgh and Youngs of Athel run for the three Townships. There where to be two men appointed for the three townships and Nelson Rose and Youngs were Elected. The roads were very mud- dy. I went up to Milford with Wesley Wattam. It com- menced to rain about five oclock and rained hard till I come home from Milford and that was Ten oclock. and I think rained on the rest of the night. Jan.5 It was lovely and nice day. Archie and I built fence down through the orchard by the Bam for the lane. Paw sold the other half of the old sow 169lbs,@ 5 cts = $8.45 Jan 6 We were wondrful suprise this moming to see it had snowed last night enough to make good sleighing. This is the first snow we have had for sleighing. Jan.7 I went down and helped Jake draw wood. Dan helped him in the afternoon. Jan. 8 I was helping Jake get up wood. At night I was sick with cold chills and headache. 9 Lam not feeling any better to day Archie went down and helped Jake get wood. After tea Maw and Archie went up to the Kickapoo show. 10 Sunday very lone some day. I was not able to get out. And the first Sunday we have had sleighing. 11 William Austin got 824 lbs of Rye. He was going on to Milford. Paw went up with him. 12 Lib very Sick with her Stomach and heart. I was very sick al day. Paw went to Old Missess Betsy Hicks Funeral Serman it was preached at the House. Then she was taken to the valley and burried. 13 Archie and Paw drawed up a load of wood from the Flats. It was a very cold day. 14 Archie was taken very sick Doctor Bowerman was down to Flora Wattam when he come back Paw had him to stop. He Said that Archie had La Grippe. George Collier and Wife were here visiting. 15 Archie is not better. I am up around the house but are not able to get out. The sleighing is not very good. 16 Paw took 530 Ibs of grain up to the Mill got it ground for Horses and Hogs. Doctor Nash was down to see Archie. He says Archie has got Erysipelas. Sunday 17 very windy all day the Snow is going all off. 18 Wind blew quite hard all day. Archie is not feeling much better and the side of my face is swelled very bad and is very painful. 19 Paw and Jake went over to Picton to see about getting some peas. Archie is some better today. I would be well if it was not for my face. It is very painful. 20 Paw lanched my face where it was swelled so started it running which stoped the pain at once. At night it com- mensed to snow . Snowed most of the night. I think there where good sleighing. 21 Jake come up helped Paw killed the old cow she was quite fat. Archie is quite smart through the day but is rest- less at nights. Iam very glad to see snow agai 22 Paw and Jake went to Milford. Iam feeling better went out to the Bam for the first for 13 days. I went down with Jake stayed all night. 23 I come up home from Jake's. There is lots of snow for good sleighing after it get broken down. I was quite sick at night think I caught cold down to Jakes. Archie is quite smart to day up around the house. 24 Sunday. Byron Hicks and Wife Annie Wadforth, Dan, Ida, Stirling, Jake and Lib were here visting. It was a love- ly day. I was not feeling very well. 25 It was quite cold. My face is getting better as fast as possible. Archie is on the game. 26 It snowed and drifted all day. Paw started to go to Mil- ford in the Afternoon the roads were filled up so he had to turn back and come home. Fal Paw went up to Milford. Ida and Dan, Stirling were up. lam feeling quite smart went out to the Bam today. 28 It snowed a little most all day. I was fixing my single Harness. Paw and Maw went down to Wesley Wattams for an eving Visit. 29 Paw and I washed and greesed my Hamest. It was a verynice day not very col. There where lots of snow for sleighing. Paw Mary Ellen and I went up to the School House to a concert there was a very large crowd there. 30 Pa, Mary Ellen went over to Picton. It was a nice day. I have been out doors most of the day for the first since I have been sick. 31 Sunday. Annie Maud, Nelse Ostrander, Ida and Dan where here. It was a very nice day. Mary Ellen and I went down to the Union to meeting Mr. Anderson preached a Temperance Serman. Continued on page 19
