Claim cow patty bingo as our own. Pa- tent it. And then charge a “performance fee” for the hun- dreds of places that do it every year, some places in areas as big as football fields. The thing is this: if we make the claim first, nobody can prove it didn’t originate here. This all started when the Fair Board asked the publicist and di- rector of bovine research to trace the origin of this very ru- ral custom, and so far he has been able to trace it back to medieval times. Or at least the Bingo part of it, which is attributed to Italy in the 1530s. Ok, they can claim bingo — but we’ve got the cows. Even if it actually more of a lottery than a bingo, come and buy a ticket on September 15 and join in supporting this (sort of) five-hundred year old tradi- tion.
