There are still boxes to unpack after seven months, paintings to hang and I’m still searching for blinds and drapes to fit the windows, but as the new Priest of the Anglican Parish of Marysburgh which includes St. John’s, Waupoos as well as St. Philip’s, Milford, I’m happy to call Milford my home. Life is good here, and I have met many fine peo- ple since my arrival in July. Packing up a house which had been our home for thirty years was a little daunting... what to keep, what to throw out, saying goodbye to friends and neighbours after a lifetime spent mostly in Pe- terborough. But, my husband Martyn and I have been warmly welcomed, and we’re happy to be here. Our cats, Farley and Emily were less than thrilled with the move. The two hours they spent in cat carriers being transported in our car to the rectory must have seemed tortuous as they howled most of the way despite the best advice of our veterinarian and our efforts to com- fort them, but they soon learned to sit in the bright sunny windows here and watch the neighboring ospreys which seemed to be some consolation! Anyway Valerie found a shirt that would fit Sherry and she wore that for the rest of the day - hoping that her supervisor wouldn’t tum up. That was the same with Chauncey too — she had an evacuation plan in case one of the superiors decided to make a visit. Valerie and I and we’re sure most of the people who had dealings with her will miss her very much. All of us can tell anecdotes about Sherry who was a very special person. In case it is a mystery to you, Sherry took ill on Thursday at work and called the ambulance. She was taken to Bow- manville Hospital and died on Friday apparently from a pulmonary embolism. She was 49 years old and leaves a husband, four children and two grand children, who, I’m sure, are devastated. - John A Jackson
