|The South Marysburgh Mirror South Marysburgh Recreation Seeks New Volunteers We would like to thank the many people in the community who were there to support our work over the duration of our volunteer service as members of the South Marysburgh Recreation Committee. Some of us have accumulated over 20+ years of service and leader- ship and therefore the time has arrived to move on and pursue some of our other interests. The following resig- nations are effective as of January 25,2007: Joel Walker, Cathy Walker, Judy Zeleney, Robin Ferguson, Jerry Fer- guson & Darlene McCaw. We all have enjoyed our time as members, some of our greatest memories will be the preparatory for various activities, as well as the enthusi- asm of the participants, especially the children at each event. We all encourage new volunteers to support their community, bringing new energy and fresh idea’s to sup- port your local neighbourhood. South Marysburgh Recre- ation is your opportunity to generate projects and conduct activities you visualize for your neighbourhood. Once a person has success- fully completed the course, they will receive an ACE Certifi- cate, which is a college certificate. It is also gaining recognition with “Every week, we meet adults in Prince Edward who would like to go on to college, but lack the skills needed to succeed. Many are stuck in lower paying jobs and fear mak- ing the move to becoming a college student,” says Conley. “The wonderful thing about this program is by taking the College Prep Program, you become a Loyalist student study- ing in Picton. You will be given a student number and of- fered regular opportunities to meet with a college instructor. Once you successfully complete this program, you are guar- anteed entry into most Loyalist courses. It’s a truly great op- portunity for people.
