It was very cloudy all day and looks as if it might rain every minute. Archie and I finished the bridge for the barn. July 5 Sunday Paw and Maw went out to Annie Mauds. Mary Ellen and I went down to Jakes. July 6 Paw bought a Massey Mower of Clark. Mr. Thomas Dunn fetch it out to day price of mower $42.00. He fettched the rope for the Hay fork it took 33lbs and it cost 10 cts a pound. Archie and I commenced to cultivat- ed the corn again in the point. 71 finished cultivating the corn and cultivated the pota- toes. Paw and Archie sowed the third field back with buckwheat. In the after noon Paw and I painted the wag- on. 8 Paw went back and mowed till noon and in the after- noon I raked it up. Archie rolled the third field back. 9 Paw and I made a waggon rack. July 10 In the fore noon I went down to the Flats and mowed part of the first field. In the after noon we raked it up and drew one load in from back. It was very warm. 13 I went down to Jakes helped him draw in a load of hay then it commenced to rain and rain till about noon. In the after noon we went back and started to pull his Kents peas. July 14 I went down to Jake's too the Reaper down and we reaped the rye by the barn and drew in a load of hay. After dinner we went back and bulled Kents peas. Strat- ton were down for a little visit he is talking of going on the Steamer Boat North King waiting on tables. 15 It rained some in the moming. I half sole a pair of boots for Mary Ellen. After dinner Paw and Jake Archie and I went back and commence to cut Jakes Rye on Rob- ert Metcalfe. 16 Paw and Archie went back working at Jakes rye. Jake and I cut peas. Then after dinner we went back and. bound Rye. 17 Paw Archie and I were helping Jake with his rye on Robert Metcalfe. After tea Paw and Maw went over to Mr, Lighthall. 18 Jake and Archie and I finished reaping, binding and seting up the rye on Robert Metcalfe there were three thousand and ninty sheaves. Archie cultivated the beans in the swamp and commenced to cultivated the com on the flats. 25 Paw and I took a load of hay over to Picton. Sold it to Lighthall @ 15.00 per ton. There were 2370|bs. 26 Sunday Mr. Anderson preach a Serman to the Chosen Friends at the carman church. There were a very large crowd. Effie Thompson is very sick had Dr. Carn from Picton. 271 went down to Jake's and helped him thrashed Kent peas with the Horses. 28 I were down to Jakes we finished thrashing the kent peas and cleaned them up. There were 29 bag's full and we helped Uncle Nath thrashed his peas with the ma- chine. 29 Jake come up we went back and drew in two loads of rye from Robert Metcalfe place. Paw reaped the Barley on the flats. 30 Jake Paw and I went over to Picton. Paw and I took a load of Hay over for Jake. Sold it to Mr. Carrington, it Continued on page 19
