PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS JANUARY 4, 1979 'INAUGURAL MEETING' THE LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION The Lake Superior Board of Education held its Inaugural Meet- ing on Monday, December 11 at 19 00 in the Marathon High School. At that meeting Mr. Tom Wall from Marathon, was elected as Chai man of the Board for the year 1979. Mr. Wall has been a Trustee with the Lake Superior Board for the past two years, during which time he served on such committees as Salary, Main- tenance, Early School Leaving and the Advisory Committee to the Caroline McMorland School in Marathon. Mrs. Joan Nugent, from Terrace Bay, who has served on a num= ber of committees during her involvement with the Board for the past six years, was elected as the Board's Vice-Chairman. In addition to the election of Chaiman and Vice Chairman, the Board established Committees and Committee Members for 1979 as follows: MANDATORY. ' INAUGURAL MEETING' ROMAN CATHOLIC SEPARATE SCHOOL BOARD The Inaugural Meeting and the Regular Meeting of the North of Superior District Roman Catholic Separate School Board were held Saturday, December 16, 1978 at St. Martin School, Terr- , ace Bay, Ontario. The new Board of Trustees were sworn into office. Nomina- tions for Chairman and Vice-Chai man took place. By Acclama- tion: Chairman - Frank Meagher; Vice Chairman - Bert Haas The past-Chairman of the Board, Trustee Beauparlant, wel=- comed the new trustees. In his comments, he noted that the Board had achieved several of its goals since amalgamation and that he hoped for continued success. He then presented the gavel to the newly-elected Chairman, Trustee Meagher. Nominations for Chairman of the Management Committee and Chai rman of the Personnel and Finance Committee took place. By acclamation: Chairman, Management - Trustee Beauparlant; Chai rman, Personnel & Finance = Trustee Bunkis. The Board accepted the recommendation of the Striking Com- mittee that the Standing Committees be comprised of the fol- lowing: Management Committee: Y. Beauparlant, Chairman; R. Currier, E. Baxter Insurance, Reed, Shaw and Stenhouse and possibly one other broker are to be approached to provide a quote on the Board's Building and Liability Insurance needs for 1979. The resignation of Mrs. Yolande Rajotte, at St. Martin Sch- ool, was accepted with regret, effective December 31, 1978. Maternity leave was granted to Mrs. Diane Nelson, Our Lady of Lourdes School, as per her request. The Board approved the request of the Copper Cave Rendez- vous Committee, Manitouwadge, for the use of the parking Tot at Our Lady of Lourdes School, Aug. 4 - 10, 1979. Reports regarding the pilot project on the 40 minute Oral Franch Program at Our Lady of Lourdes School, Manitouwadge, were reviewed.
