PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS DECEMBER 20, 1978 Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee BEAVER COLONY: On December 12th, 1978 an orientation-registration evening was held for parents and boys in the town hall basement. This was very well attended and twenty-five boys were registered for this program, which will begin on Tuesday, January 16th, 1979 at 6:45 p.m. in Holy Angels gymnasium. Boys not abl: to attend can still register at the Recreation Office. Uniforms will be ordered for the boys, we will need hat and shirt size. Once received parents will pay. Leaders are still needed as the boys registered that evening will form one colony. Parents-are also required for sitting on the group committee. The function of this group is to Took after the adninistra- tion of the colonies, assist in fund raising events to support the local groups. The leaders report to this committee. ARENA BUILDING FUND MEETING: On Sunday, December 12, 1978 to plan events for the New Year. For January there will be a bottle drive right after the New Year, save your bottles, an event between the two local stores is being planned, more on .this as it develops, the can- vassers will be on the 'road again beginning January 8th, 1979 and a local lottery is being planned, in addition a dance on | January 16th, 1979. We still require more assistance in planning and running these events; please let us know what you are willing to do in seeing that we raise all monies necessary. YOUTH BOWLING: A League for Youth bowling will become a reality in 1979 if two things occur (1) sufficient registration (2) parental involvement for transportation, scoring etc. The cost is $9.00 per bowler plus the twenty-five cents per week for shoes. The recreation office must know by December 14th how many are interested. Times will depend on interest. [|f the above occurs the league will start January 13th, 1979 and operate for fifteen weeks. ARENA UPDATE: Funds from persons who have made pledges prior to approval have been coming in at the Municipal Office very well, since, the approval has been received.
