ADDED ACTIVITIES REQUIRED AT BIRCHWOOD TERRACE The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Home for the Aged was held at Pine- wood Court on Friday, October 27th, 1978. Accounts for Pinewood Court and Birchwood Terrace totalling $111,523.45 were passed for payment. There are a number of Residents waiting for admission to both Pinewood Court and Bi rchwood Terrace. A number of new applications are also being processed. The Board will be asking for Tenders for fuel oil for the year 1979. They will also be asking for Tenders for bread and milk. The Administrator, Mr. M. J. Vibert, explained to the Board the concern he had about the excessive drinking, at times, in the Homes and has had to set guidelines for the Residents. They are allowed to consume alcohol in their rooms, however, their conduct in the Home must be acceptable to the Residents living in the Home. |f a Resident is unable to meet these guidelines he will be assisted in finding other accommodation in his home area. The Board felt that the action taken was reasonable as they are very concerned about the environment in the Home for all Residents. The Board has decided not to proceed with the establishment of bars in the Homes and the Liquor Control Board of Ontario has been informed of the decision. A pool table has been purchased and negotiations are pro- ceeding for the building of a greenhouse for Birchwood Terrace It is felt that added activities are needed in this Home. The next Board meeting is scheduled for November 24, 1978.
