NOVEMBER 15, 1978 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 11 - SEVEN CLUBS REPRESENTED AT KINETTE RALLY "You've Come a Long Way, Baby", was the appropriate theme of the Kinette Fall Zone Rally held recently in Terrace Bay at Bi rchwood Terrace. . The Terrace Bay Kinette Club hosted the event, with repre- sentatives of Zone 4 attending from Thunder Bay, Atikokan, Nipigon, Red Rock, Dorian, Schreiber and Marathon. Zone 4 is part of District Two, which extends from Marathon in the East to the Saskatchewan border in the West, and is divided into seven zones. During the business session, president Carolyn Waldenberger of Terrace Bay introduced Zone Kinette Co-ordinator Carol Gibben of Thunder Bay. The Kinette Presidents of each dist rict were introduced as follows: Brenda Birch of Schreiber; Carolyn Waldenberger of Terrace Bay; Suzanne Rayner of Mara- thon; Pat Harris of Atikokan; Darlene Christie of Hill City (Thunder Bay); Pat Kennedy of Fort City (Thunder Bay); and Linda Elliot of Nip-Rock. Darlene Zroback chaired the event. Ruth-Ann Birch of Schreiber served as Sergeant-At-Amms. Susan Mason read the minutes of the Fall Zone Rally of 1977 which was held in Schreiber. Each president reported on all activities and projects undertaken by her club throughout the year. The Terrace Bay Kinettes were honored with an efficiency award, and Fort City was presented the Irene Sennett Travel- ling Trophy. : Governor-General of District 2 Kinsmen, William Zroback, spoke with the group and informed them that the Kinsmen were very grateful for the active support of the Kinettes. Marj Hamilton, guest speaker at the smorgasborg dinner, ex- pressed appreciation on behalf of the Council of the Township of Terrace Bay for the many contributions of the Kinettes to the communi ty. ? J Guest Leola Angus showed interesting and informative slides of her years in the North, where she was employed as a nurse. Hill City also presented original slides of the city of Thund- er Bay, where the Hill City Convention Presentation "Kin Eth- nic Experience" will be held in May, 1979. Evening entertainment was provided by the local Kinsmen, who enacted the legendary "Shooting of Dan McGrew" and demon- strated their fine singing style. A funny-munny casino and Chinese action auction concluded the activities. Atikokan © will host the rally next year at Quetico Centre. Although the Terrace Bay Kinettes was formed as recently as April, 1977, they have since been instrumental in community projects and aiding the Kinsmen events.
