MEN'S AND LADIES FITNESS: Classes have began for these and anyone still interested should contact Mr. Bill Smilsky, Mr. Lonny Connelly or Mr. Walt Klassen. Men's fitness is on Wednesday evening in addit- ion to the Thursday Firemen. The ladies have a sport evening on Tuesday and Slimnastics on Monday, you can take your choice as to which you wish to attend. NORTHERN AFFAIRS: The Schreiber Recreation Department prints with its monthly Newsletter information sheets from the Ministry of Northern Affairs. We keep on file all Northern Affairs bulletins, if you the public would Tike to see them or confim some data prior to calling the Ministry, please drop in and we will make them available. RED CROSS INSTRUCTORS PROGRAM Anna Racioppi and Tina Redins attended the first weekend of two to gain their instruztor's certificate in swimming. RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETINGS: The recreation committee meetings are held the first Tues- day of each month at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The date for the November meeting has been changed to November 1st. Members of the public c. attend these if they so wish; also the files are open to the public Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. MAGIC MOUNTAIN - STUDIO LAB THEATRE: A tenative date of May 16, 1979 has been set to bring in a play named "Magic Mountain". It will be held in the Lake Superior Public School at 3:30 p.m., further promotional mat- erial will go out upon receipt. This is open to the general public, if you have a youngster not in school, your more than welcome to bring them. WINTER PROGRAMS: We are still phanning, talking, gathering, information on winter programs and upon details being finalized data will be released. ARENA UPDATE: As a result of the October 10th Council meeting, Council will write to the Ministry of Labour to see if they can open the arena for the coming season; the arena will remain closed until word (positive or negative) is received from this min- istry. Our submission to Wintario, the Community Recreation Centre Act has been completed and sent to the Ministry of Culture and Recreation. |t'is hoped positive word will be received back from Toronto within the next couple of weeks. We still need to raise from the public/private sector $183,000.00. At this time, due to climatical factors, the chances of any part of the complex starting seems remote. Approval from Wintario would ensure an" April or May start in 1979 with Gate- way Builders and Supply Ltd. being the general contractor.
