" SEPTEMBER 27, 1978 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 13 WEST: The funeral of the late Annie West of Thunder Bay, whose death at the age of 65, occurred in hospital on September 16th, following a long illness, was conducted in St. Andrew's United Church in Schreiber on September 20th by the Rev. Brian Bigelow. Dorothy Lengy8l was the organist and the hymns chosen were "In The Garden' and 'Lead Kindly Light!. The honourary pallbearers were W.G, Gerow, W.E, D'Arcy, - W. Paradis, W, Whent, Norman McCuaig and JK, Davis. Active bearers were Keith Ross, Borden Ross, Paul Buso, Frank Fummer- ton, Russell Macadam and W, Cook. Interment was in Schreiber cemetery. Mrs. West's immediate survivors are her brother Allan Shaw of Schreiber; two neices - Sandra (Mrs. Mitch Rayevic) and Janis (Mrs. Peter Minoletti) of Thunder Bay; a nephew, John Shaw of Dryden; four great nieces and two great grandsons, and many relations in Southern Ontario. Mrs. West, nee Annie. Shaw, was born in Arnprior and brought by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shaw to Schreiber at an early age. She grew up in Schreiber, and made 1ife long friends. She was predeceased by her husband in 1969 and in 1970 moved to Thunder Bay, where she made many friends through her support of Wesley United Church. In deference to these friends and the former Schreiber friends now residing in Thun- der Bay, the Rev. Greenough conducted a service in the Jenkins Funeral Chapel before the body was brought to Schreiber. During his eulogy Rev. Bigelow read, by special request, the poem 'Crossing the Bar!. ; Among those attending the funeral, from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Johr Shaw, of Dryden; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Minoletti and son Peter, Mrs. Mitch Rayevic, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dershel, FANtastic! WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING: A minute's silence was observed at the September meeting of the Schreiber Women's Institute in memory of the late Ana- stasia LeBlanc, a Life Member. Mrs. Mavis Slater, presiding, offered the thought for the day - "Today is the first day of the last day of your life". Roll call was answered by suggestions of ways to continue to improve one's education. Motto for the meeting was "in youth we Tearn, in age we understand". Current events dealt with the recent visit of the Lieute- nant-Governor; the crowning of the new Pope; Commonweal th Games and the new airport and hospital for Terrace Bay. On July 31st several members of the Institute visited a long-time member, Mrs. Nettie Thrower, when Mrs. Slater pre- sented her with a corsage and Life Membership in the Instit- ute. Mrs. Slater thanked Mrs. Winnie Clemens for presenting the Scholarship to Susan Smith at the yearly program; and for having the yearly programs typed and prepared. These are sold to members for a nominal fee. Mrs. Margaret Spillane was commended for the excellent brides book she had prepared and it was decided to present this to Mrs. Debra Boag (nee McCanna). : Mrs. Winnie Campbell read a lenghthy list of cards sent during the summer for various occasions.
