PAGE 4 : TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST 16, 1978 LOOKING BACK 30 YEARS AGO - AUGUST 12, 1948 FROM THE RECORDS: It was just two years ago this week that the first house was erected at Terrace Bay, and around-the Millsite, clearing gangs were busy removing tree stumps prior to the commencement of construction work in that area. The tank for the Lower Camp water tower had arrived and only 170 men were at work on the entire project. Last year about this time the new dual purpose cafeteria-recreation building was used for the first time as a moving picture show. Around the ball field, Comets and Hydro were setting the pace. At the Millsite, progress was made as concrete foundations were being poured, one of the largest being 336 cubic yard pour for the Drum Barker foundation. 25 YEARS AGO - AUGUST 13, 1953 Mr. and Mrs. John Mikus with Jim and Patricia returned home last week from their holidays spent at New Liskard, Ont. with Mrs. Mikus' parents Mr. and Mrs. D.R. Patterson and at Whi te River with John's parents Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mikus. 15 YEARS AGO - AUGUST 17, 1963 Holy Angels Church was adorned with multi-colored gladiolii on August 3rd for the wedding of Lorraine Hilda, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Bill and Mary lived in Terrace Bay for 20 years residing at 107 Laurier Avenue. Their sons, Walter and Maurice both attended school here and Walter is now on the Mill staff while Maurice moved out to B.C. 5 YEARS AGO - AUGUST 15, 1973 KEN HANLEY WINS ANNUAL AGUASABON OPEN: MWe are all proud of Ken Hanley who won the tournament over many entries from out of town. STORK CLUB: Born to Mr.and Mrs. Jon MacDonald of Terrace Bay, a girl on August 8th, 1973. 1 YEAR AGO - AUGUST 17, 1977 The marriage of Linda Commisso, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cosimo A. Commisso, and Cosimo Speziale, son of Mrs. Rita Speziale and the late Vincenzo Speziale, was solemized by Reverend F.J.
