Public Library VOL. 21 NO. 28 JULY 26, 1978 20¢ PER COPY COUNCIL QUOTES The regular meeting oi the Council of the Township of Terrace Bay was held on Monday, July 10th at 7 p.m. Present were Reeve C. Brassard, Councillors M. Hamilton, P. Romanuk and K. Macleod, Clerk Co-Ordinator Bill Hanley and Veronica Hermes. : At the regular meeting an June 26th, council agreed to purchase advertising space in the Kinsmen Paper and it was decided that Marg Simmer would attend a meeting held by the Ministry of Commercial and Social Services regarding the new fanily law reform act, to be held in Thunder Bay in August. Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as presented. Reeve Brassard, Peter Romanuk and Don Stewart will attend the District No. 3 Hydro Meeting in Dryden on September 10-12. The Ministry of Housing grant was deferred since only nine people responded and a minimum of twenty-five is required. 'A by-law was passed to appoint R. Stevenson as solicitor for the Township of Terrace Bay effective July 1, 1978, and to have his files transferred. Wardrop and Associates have been authorized to call for tenders for repaid of the sanitary sewer systems in the Terrace Bay Heights subdivision at an estimated cost of $40,000.00. Marj Hamilton will attend the District No. 2 Kinsmen Meet- ing in Dryden on July 22nd. Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Pauline McGibbon, will be touring through Marathon, Manitouwadge, Terrace Bay, Schrei- ber, Red Rock and Nipigon in September and will arrive in Terrace Bay on September 20th. A dinner is being planned in her honour. A by-law was passed to authorize entering into an agree- ment with the Province of Ontario, as represented by the Ministry of Environment, for improvement to the landfill site. : Clubs and organizations are reminded that it is adviseable to 'get permission from Council before engaging in money mak- ing projects which involve door-to-door selling. This has been the first season for girls! organized fastball, and the three teams have been very enthusiastic. The other two teams competing with the Bad News: Bears were the Dodgers and the Expos.
