PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS JULY 19, 1978 MRS: TODESCO HONOURED ON /5TH BIRTHDAY Miss Camilla Todesco and brother Jack Todesco entertained at a come and go afternoon tea honouring their mother Mes. Anne Todesco Sunday afternoon on her 75th birthday at the family home in Rossport. Over a hundred friends and relatives called from Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Rossport with greetings, as well as from many distant parts. Mrs. Leona Leisander was the dininc room hostess with Mrs. Eileen Rouble, Mrs. Margaret Douglas and Miss Lorraine Seppala serving. Presiding at the silver tea and.coffee were Mrs. Anne Need- ham, Mrs. Dorice Douglas, Mrs. Prina Gerow and Mrs. Deanna Douglas. The tea table was covered with a swiss embroidered white linen cloth, centered with an arrangement of white and pink carnations and fern in a silver bowl offset by silver candle holders and white candles. Several floral arrangements from friends and relatives were displayed about the rooms. Mrs. Leisaider presented Mrs. Todesco with a money tree from Rossport friends while Mrs. Helen Wallace of the Senior Citizens Chimo Club presented a purse from that group, a stainless steel tray engraved with the Women of the Moose Lodge number and Mrs. Todesco's name was received from the lodge and presented by Mrs. Alma Hart. Several individual gifts of china, cosmetics, books, cash and novelties, cards and messages were received by Mrs. Todesco. Mrs. Freda Gerow decorated the birthday cake and the members of the St. Berchman's Altar Society prepared the lunch. Among those from distant parts were James Dawdy, Vincent Carlington and Camilla Todesco of Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. J. _ Stokes (M.P.P.), Mr. and Mrs. Keith Penner of Ottawa; Mr. and Mrs. John T. Douglas of Webbwood, Ont.; Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bertin, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Gerow, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Douglas and Scott Douglas all of Marathon, Mrs, Audry Nicol, of Man- itouwadge; Lorne Zwaresh of New York; Miss Lori Kelton of Windsor, Ont; Mr. and Mrs. Uno Manilla, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Manilla and Andrea Manilla, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hotchkiss and Rev Father E,T, Kennedy all of Nipigon, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gaulin and Mrs. Helen Jacobson of Red Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lynch, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Adams, Manlio Todesco, Mrs. Simone MacCor- mack, Mrs. Grace Bruley, Mr. and Mrs. George Bruley all from Thunder Bay; Mrs. George M, Paradise of Sioux City, lowa; Mr. and Mrs, Jospeh Douglas of Sioux Narrows, Ont. Cathy Douglas looked after the guest book. Mrs. Leona Leisander celebrated her birhtday Saturday even- ing with a gathering of relatives and friends but stated that she was only thirty-nine years old. Mrs. Freda Gerow made and decorated a birthday cake. A sing song was enjoyed and much reminiscing of early experiences when all were young in the area. Mrs. Leisander was the recipient of several gifts from Mr. and Mrs. Regis of Manitouwadge, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Gerow of Marathon, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Legault, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gerow, Pat and Devona Leisander and Patsey Campbell and luncheon was served with the birthday cake holding the place of honour as a table centerpiece. Miss Lori Kelton of Windsor has arrived to spend the summer holidays with her grandmother Mrs. Lillian Schelling. am . SE CCRC RECREATION DEPT. ; | WEEKLY REPORT SUMMER PROGRAMME: The Terrace Bay Summer Programme '78 is off to-a good start. Events such as crafts, passive games, skateboarding, roller skating and canoeing have created the biggest interest for the youth of the community. Just a reminder for all that the Summer Programme schedul- = es were delivered door to door and if anyone was overlooked or missed, a copy may beobtained at the Recreation Office. Anyone interested in taking canoe lessons is asked to please sign sheets found on the bulletin board at the Recre- ation _ ntre. : Presently a camping trip is bokns organized with the Mara- . thon Playground Department. This camping trip will involve a combination of the Marathon and Terrace Bay playground departments and will take place at Neys Park August 23, 2%, and 25th featuring such activities as nature pikes, cookouts, singsongs, etc. Anyone interested, between the ages of 9 to 12 is asked to submit their names to the Recreation Office or to any Playground leader before August 18th. PUPPET SHOW: a Bi a fru has vey Ee wep Binkly and Doinkel Puppet Show will be performing in Terr= ace Bay on Thursday, July 27th at 9 a.m. in the area just be- Tow Birchwood Terrace (the Senior Citizens Home). This show is open to all ages and parents are urged to bring the children out. There is no admission charge. SWIM POOL: July swimming lessons are now in their third week. "Testing for this session will be on either July 26 or 27. Definite dates will be posted at the Pool. "Mom & Tot" swim instruction started Monday, July 17th If you were-not notified as to what time your class is, please check at the Pool. MEN'S FASTBALL: 5 The Ladies! Softball League is continuing throughout July and in to August with games being played every Monday and Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Mill Road ball diamond. Spectactors are welcome to attend. ROLLER SKATING: Don't forget roller skating i is held every Monday, Thursday and Sunday nights in the arena. See page 11 for details. BOXI NG: We are having a short delay in the formation of the Box- ing Club due to vacation interfering with organizational plans.
