The Chinese Cooking Course which was held in the Community Church basement for four consecutive after- noons proved to be a - great success. Instructed by Mr. Ling Lee of Confedera- tion Cu' '2ge, the course introduced the twenty-two students to various Chinese cooking skills including. the use of a wok and the proper preparation of rice. Such delectable recipes as " Sub Gum Chop Suey" were prepared and participants were able to sample the results of their achiev- ments. ¢ THE FARMER IN THE DELL Lake Superior Public School, Terrace Bay Campus, staged a very enjoyable musical operetta, " The Famer in the Dell" on the evening of June 7th. During the hour long production, several colorful characters made their appearance on the coun- try -style stage setting. Cast members included 01d MacDonald, Little Bo Peep, Mary Quite Contrary, crows, roosters, flowers, scarecrows, pretty maids, farm hands, and even bugs in rugs and an egg! Mrs. J. McGee, director and pianist, and the students of grades two, three and four are to be congratulated for a very entertaining performance. After the show, Mrs. McGee received a special presentation from the class. © o-- ee CROWN COTTAGE LOT SALE Details of government plans to sell Crown cottage lots to the public were announced in the Ontario Legislature today by Natural Resources Minister Frank S. Miller. This pregram for Crown cottage lots in the north was first announced in the Speech from the Throne in February. Present holders of cottage lot leases, except those under the government's remote cottage program, will be given the op~ tion of purchasing their lots. Conversion to sale from lease will be at the appraised mar- ket value of the land at the time of conversion based on a | comparable unimproved lot. To be eligible to purchase or lease a Crown cottage Tot during the first year following registration of a subdivision, an applicant must be resident in Ontario either as a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant. During the second year after registration, other Canadian citizens or landed immigrants Tiving outside the province, a= long with residents of Ontario, are eligible to purchase or lease any cottage lots that remain ungranted : continued page 3..
