APRIL 19, 1978 TERRACE BAY NEWS Ruby Rebekah Lodge Ro. 27° A dinner at Restaurant LeBlanc preceded the meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge on Wednesday evening. Guests of honour were Mrs. Connie Humby, Warden of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario and Mrs. Loretta Sinclair, District Deputy President of District 41 1,0,0,F. Thunder Bay, Mrs. Winnie Clemens N,G. and Mrs. Gladys Hamilton V,G, pre- sided for the meeting. Introductions of guests by escorts - Mrs. Helen Wallace, Beth Macadam and Georgina Davis was done. Mrs. Mavis Slater, past president of the Rebekah Assembly was also honoured. A guard of Honour with participants Mesdames Mildred Smith, Helen D'Arcy, Verna Linkewich and Annie Nieni attended, holding sprays of pink carnations which were later presented to Mrs. Humby. Others attending were members representing Amethyst, Sap- phire and Topaz Lodges from Thunder Bay. firs. Gladys Hamilton reported for the Sick and Visiting Commi ttee. Correspondence included a thank you note from Mrs. H, Mc- Bride, Mrs. Molly Parchem and Mrs. Eleanor Forster. Donations were made to the Schreiber Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society and the Leukemia Research Program |,0.0.F. An invitation was received from Agate Rebekah Lodge to attend a meeting on April 21st and to a tea on April 29th from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Credit Union Hall, Westfort, Thunder Bay. Mrs. Clemens thanked all members for their donations to the recent successful C,P.T. Penny Auction and the Hamper Draw. The grocery hamper was won by Mrs. Lavaughn West, Terrace Bay. Mrs. Humby addressed the Lodge with a very interesting re- port of her work in her office as Assembly Warden. Mrs. Sinclair gave a resume of her years activities which was a busy one. Mrs. Clemens presented the guests with corsages and a gift as a momento of her visit to Ruby Lodge. ° ' Mrs.' Mavis Slater spoke briefly and added her cangratula- tions to the Assembly Officers. > Mrs. June Claydon and Mrs. Marion Young and others, brought greetings from their respective Lodges in Thunder Bay. A penny auction and pot luck lunch will follow the next meeting on April 26th. Following the meeting, lunch was served by Gladys Hamilton and her Committee and a social hour was enjoyed. Environmental Assessment Board NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING WASTE DISPOSAL SITE Township of Terrace Bay The Ministry of the Environment has re- ceived an application by the Township of Terrace Bay for a certificate of approval -for a landfilling site proposed to be lo- cated at Grid Reference 851037, Department of Engergy, Mines and Resources Map entit- led "Schreiber Map 42D/14" approximately five miles west of Terrace Bay, one-half mile south of Highway 17, south of the Hydro Line in the Township of Terrace Bay. The Environmental Assessment Board will conduct a public hearing to obtain infor- mation and to hear the views of the public so that it can make recommendations .in res -pect of the proposed waste disposal site. Written and oral submissions may be made to the Board at the hearing. The Board will not consider any submissions regard- ing the proposal after the hearing has been closed. The hearing will be held on May 4, at 10:00 o'clock in the morning, local time, in the Township of Terrace Bay Coun- cil Chambers, 12 Simcoe Plaza, Terrace Bay, Ontario.
