Carrie Pytyck, the Dragon Lady and Kelly Moore and Pamela Menchenton as geisha girls, represented China, Tinkerbell (Paula Bouchard), the jungle queen (Cathy Hansen) the blue fairy (Linda Gerlach) and the bird of paradise (Karen Brassard) represented Disneyland, with several storybook characters played by Tanya Ditchfield, Joelle Kenny, Cindy Orlesky, Krista Stuart, Bonnie Pollard, Kathleen Wills, Stacy Fenton, Kim McColeman, Terry Singleton, Jody Speers and Billy Menchenton, Stewardess Nancy Gerlach skated to "Star Wars", Arabian nomads were portrayed by Lisa Heinrich, Betty Hopper, Paula Kinnunen, Tammy White, Nicole Rattray, Pricilla Walterhouse and Sandra Barnett. Tammy Trach was Cleopatra, 3 Maureen Caldwell, Linda Pauksty, Laurie Pollard and Brigetta Samp, wearing grass skirts, did a "hula on ice" and Heather Saranpaa as Miss Hawaii skated a solo. The hee haw gang, with hay bales as props, were Tracy Clark, Cathy Hansen, Karen Brassard, Tammy Trach, Kelly Moore and Brigetta Samp, Complete with Daisy Mae (Jenn- ifer Kodila) and L'i1 Abner (Cheryl Prill), they performed a skate-stompin' square dance on ice. i Darlene Woods, as "Oui, Oui Marie" and Kelly Clark and Laurie Pollard as French maids, represented gay Paree. Jane Colbey~Hara and Nancy Gerlach were guitar-strum- ming Mexicans, Nicole Rattray captivated the crowd with her portrayal of. a highland lassie, skating to bagpipe music, while Catherine Farrell and Krista Ditchfield were Swiss girls, dressed in "lederhosen". Joyce Kurylo and Denyse Desros- fers were Alpine climbers. The tour ended in good old Canada. Terry Singleton, Mark Saranpaa, Billy Menchenton and Martin Saranpaa, sport ~ing ski poles, represented Banff skiers. Jane Colbey-Hara as Miss Canada gave a lovely perfor- mance to the theme from "Mahogany". Sandra Barnett, Tammy ithite, Shannon Lever, Kerri McColeman, Raija Luikkonen and Helena Laitenen were enchanting snowbi rds. The tour ended with a parade of nations, a skater car- rying a flag to represent each country. The senior girls performed a lively number "|t!'s a Miracle", skated by Jennifer Kodila, Heather Saranpaa, Cheryl Prill, Joyce Kurylo, Denyse Desrosiers, Darlene Woods, Nancy Gerlach, Jane Colbey-Hara and Carrie Pytyck. Costumed in lovely pastel colours, Linda Dejonghe, Cheryl Dejonghe and Elizabeth Singleton performed the final number, "Tropicana", followed by a grand finale. Mrs. Elizabeth Singleton, figure skating professional, did a superb job of convening and co-ordinating the carni- val, Mrs. Singleton and Linda Dejonghe, a free lance pro- fessional skater, were presented with flowers from the club members. The mothers of the skaters are to be praised for the elaborate costumes they made, which must have taken a great deal of time and talent. CRIBBAGE TOURNAMENT AT BIRCHWOOD: Sunday, April 9th, Cliff Riley of Birchwood Terrace, had a good response to his call for a weekly Cribbage Tournament, Held in the Tobby of Birchwood Terrace at 7:00 Pema, the win- ners were: A Division - Rita Corrigan and Jack Siver: B Divi- sion - Neil Smith and Anne Bisson; and the two players who failed to make even one win - Blanche Speck and Gertrude Cot- ton had their entry fee returned to them.
