Highlighting the Friday evening events was the crowning of the Carnival Queen Miss Leigh Ann McBride, sponsored by the L.S.H.S. Ice sculptor winners were: first prize - Cougar - Debbie Pawlett and Krsyia Piette; second prize - Owl = David and Lore McBride; third prize - Humpty Dumpty - Kerri" and Kim McColeman, : Judges Decisions were hard to come by considering the delightful costumes of children eight and under. Winners were - first - Robot - Mark Mannisto, second - Litter Bags ~ Staci and Kelly Fenton, third - Red Riding Hood - Cathy Cornfield, Talents were demonstrated during the skate races producing winners in each age group from pre-schoolers to 12 years of age. : Comedy took to the ice in a fun filled moter vs mites hockey game. A refreshing experience for a capacity crowd was the home town talent displayed during the Variety Show. Spectators enjoyed a Broomball game between the Terrace Bay Kinsmen and the Terrace Bay Fire Department. Climax of the evening was an open dance held at the Legion. During the Saturday morning Woodsman events many partici- pants surprised themselves by showing hidden talents. Winners in wood cutters competition were: 1) Power Saw Speed Buck - Garnet Pinkerton; 2) Two men cross cut -"Scott Thompson and Norm Beaulieu; 3) Two women cross tut ~ Ruth Poole and Robbie VYelanoff; 4) Men's Busksaw - Dick Mannistd; 5) Womens Bucksaw = Rhea Beaulieu; 6) Men's pulp toss - Dick Mannisto; 7) Womens pulp toss - Rhea Beaulieu; 8) Axe Throw - Dick Manni sto; Water Boiling - Kelly McKie. : A thrifty fifty's Tunch was held at the Communi ty Church and it was a sell out success. . A relaxing afternoon tea with the Senior Citizens and a ~ hockey game at the arena completed aftemoon activities. To page 2 ¢.es. BARCLAY MAYHEW RECREATION 'CO-ORDINATOR THE TOWNSHIP OF TERRACE BAY The Terrace Bay Recreation Committee is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Barclay Mayhew as Recreation Co-ordinator for the Township of Terrace Bay. Barclay and his wife, Shirley, previously resided in Renfrew, Ontario, where Barclay was Assistant Recreation Director. Barclay graduated from Sir Sandford Flemming College, Peterborough, in May, 1974, with a 2-year diploma in Recrea- tion Leadership. He now holds a Municipal Recreation Direc- tors Certificate Type "B" Interim. He also holds a Refrig- eration "B" Operator Certificate. He was employed as the Assistant Director of Recreation in Renfrew since 1973, His duties while in Renfrew were very similar to those as Recreation Co-ordinator in Terrace Bay; therefore, he fore sees no difficulty in familiarizing himself with the opera- tion of our Recreation Department. - We welcome Barclay and Shirley to our community and he is very anxious to meet with organizations and community groups in Terrace Bay. Mr, and Mrs. Mayhew presently reside in Apt. 107, 280 Kenoganmi Road, until such time as they are able to obtain a permanent residence. :
