His foster parents find this lovable, affectionate two-year-old a joy to live with. : Anglo-Saxon and Italian in descent, Wally has blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin. His development is below normal because he was born with Downs Syndrome, commonly called mongolism. As is the case with many Downs children, he is subject to chest problems and has recently had pneumonia. He also has a minor heart defect but requires no treatment or medication. Wally is more advanced than many children with his condition. He can walk around the furniture. He has a fair- sized vocabulary of single words. He feeds himself, begin- ning to use a spoon and a cup. He knows what to do with crayons. He likes to play ball by rolling it across the floor.
