SUBSCRIPTION RATES: $5.00 per year (local) $6.00 per year (out-of-town) Second class mail Registration Number 0867 LEOLA ANGUS APPOINTED SUPERVISOR OF CARE SERVICES AT BIRCHWOOD TERRACE The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Home for the Aged was held at Pinewood Court on Sat -urday, November 26th, 1977 at 3:00 p.m. A Seminar for Board of Management personnel and Administrators was held at the Alpine Inn. The Seminar dealt primarily with the role of the Board of Management people and the Adminis- trator. Mr. Lawrence Crawford, the Director of the Homes for the Ministry spoke to the group on Friday morning and was able to explain the role of the Homes and the latest Senior levels of Government plans that are being formulated, that will affect Seniors in all walks of life. The operating costs for both Pinewood Court and Birchwood Terrace were passed for October totalling $100,395.19. Dr. Wilkes of Terrace Bay was appointed the Home Physician for Birch -wood Terrace as of December 1st, 1977. Dr. McCausland who has been the Home Physician since 1973 had requested that he be replaced. Mrs. Leola Angus was appointed the Supervisor of Care Services at Birchwood Terrace as of December 15th, 1977. A motion to set up three Committee's of the Board to <dnclude Finance, Personnel and Public Relations was defeated. Board member Harold J. McParland asked that his name be re- corded in favour of the motion. A motion for a Finance Committee of Mr. Alex Daneff, Chair- man and Margaret Sideen for the year 1978-79 was approved. There will be new rates in effect for Resi- dents of Birchwood Terrace who use the services of Charlotte's Beauty Spot. The Board's por- tion will remain the same as in the previous schedule. SCHOOL NEWS SR. GIRL'S BASKETBALL TEAM TRAVELS TO THUNDER BAY: On Friday, November 25th, the Lake Superior Sr. Girls Basketball team travelled to Thunder Bay to participate in the fourth Annual Lake- head University tournament. The first game was held at the C.J. Saunders Fieldhouse, where the Lake Superior defeated Sioux Lookout 43-28. The remainder of the tournament was played at Fort Willian Collegiate where Lake Superior girls played the Thunder Bay All Star Team. Continued page 4 .....
