PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS OCTOBER 26, 1977 At a Special Board Meeting held in Marathon on October 4, 1977, the following appointments were approved: - Mr. Norman Lebranche as Ac- countant at Board Office, effective 1977 11 01 and the temporary appointment of H.J. Boudreau as Secretary to the Board, effective September i, 1977. The regular meeting of the Board held on. 'October 17, 1977, at Marathon High School was called to order at 19:05. The minutes of Previous Meetings were adopted. : : The list of disbursements in the total a- mount of $226,922.34 for the month of Septem- ber, 1977, were approved. Law 300 to be offered as a credit course to day school students, as part of the Night School program was approved. An Ad-hoc Committee was set up to draw up a list of Committee Members for 1978. The Committee consists of the following trustees: Corp. T.D. Wall, L.J. Murphy, T.S. Pollard and A.S. Gordon. The Board requested that their congratula- tions be conveyed to Ms. F. Poleschuk, the . newly appointed Regional Director, Ministry of Education, Northwestern Ontario. It was also asked that a letter of appreciation and best wishes be sent to Dr. R.R. Steele the former Director. The meeting was adjourned at 23 05. HOSPITAL AUXILIARY MEETING The Auxiliary to The McCausland Hospital held their regular meeting in the Schreiber High School with the President Norma Crockford presiding. Mrs. Lillie Legault was a visitor. Reports were given by the treasurer, Helen Croll; Tuck Shop report by Margaret Gander. A donation of several knitted items was re- ceived. Volunteer workers are badly needed to help man the Hospital Tuck Shop in the afternoon and evenings. Contact Mrs. Gander or Anne Wilkes if you can help in any way. Mrs. Marj Stephen, Convenor of Membership, has the tickets ready for the volunteer can- vasers. Canvassing will begin this month in Terrace Bay and Schreiber. Your memberships go towards the Hospital building fund. Christine Handy, Hospital Board representa- tive, reported that $305,992.55 is the total contributions to date. Flora Bryson reported for Dominion Store slips which are collected to obtain items to be used as a raffle or an article for the hospital. Lilian Christie and Beth Macadam attended the Conference of the Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario held in Thunder Bay (District 12A Fall Conference) on Sept. 26th. Reports of same were given. The next meeting will be held in the St. Martin School in Terrace Bay on Monday, Nov. 21st. All members invited to attend. MR. E. CAVANAUGH RECEIVES HONOUR Recently Mr. Wm. Edward Cavanaugh of Terrace' Bay received an honour that was only bestowed on five residents of this district. For his contribution to the betterment of community life in Canada, during the 25 year reign of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, he received a commemorative medal and a plaque. Upon contacting Mr. Cavanaugh about this, he said, "In view of the fact that there were only five of the medals issued in the District of Thunder Bay, I feel very deeply honoured". We ask you to watch for "A History of Ter- race Bay" written by Mr. Cavanaugh in next week's paper. \ LADIES EVENING BOWLING: The Ladies Evening League of the Terrace Bay Bowling Association got underway on Tuesday, October 18, 1977 with four teams. Several new bowlers are participating this year and were welcomed into the league. Games over 200 were bowled by the following J. Cameron 211; S. Luxmore 238; D. Patterson 217, 202; Ss. Hamilton 212; B. Barnett 240; J. Greenwood 253; E. Boutilier 235.
