Theme of the meeting was Happiness is Lov- ing and Giving and the roll call was answered with samples, of articles made from materials. During current events time, Schreiber's pleasure in the recent appointment of Jack Stokes, MIA, and a native of the town, as Speaker of the House was unanimously expressed | It was also reported the Snow Shoe factory in Pays Plat will shortly be completed. Mrs. Annie Niemi reported sending cards and flowers to Mrs. Victoria Winters in Ter- race Bay hospital and receiving a thank you note from Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Miller. Mrs. Winnie Clemens read an interesting re- port of the Area coming, listing the new of- ficers for 1977-78, with Mrs. R.I. Skene as President and Mrs. H.E. Pateman as secretary- ~ treasurer, both of Oxdrift. Plans were made for a bake sale on November 10th at 2 p.m. in the Bay store. Members were asked to donate at least two baked items, with Anne Todesco, presiding at the October the price attached. This event will be in charge of Mesdames Todesco, John Spillane ang Bertha Miller. : ' It was decided to make a donation to the McCausland Hospital Building Fund. Mrs. John- Spillane agreed to place the wreath from the Institute at the Memorial day ceremony. : Poems on Thanksgiving were read by Mrs.. Winnie Campbell, Margaret Spillane and Winnie Clemens. : : There will be a speaker at the November meeting. . Following the meeting, penny auction was played and a cold Plate supper enjoyed. L.A. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BR. 109: > The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 109, Schreiber, voted to respond to the appeal for support for the Grace Remus Scanner fund and will give $500.00 - the Branch will give an equal amount, bringing the donation to one thousand dollars. This was done at their October meeting, with Georgina Davis presiding. : Six new members were initiated - Mesdames Amella Webb, Kay Stefurak, Colleen Gauthier, Juanita Falconer, Miss Michelle Bedard and Miss Sandra Richardson.
