Special Congratulations to Kim Dakin, Grade 7 and Andrew Gramatowski, Grade 8, for achiev ~ing the highest score in St. Martin's in their respective Grades. Mr. Dale Cooper, Head of the Mathematics Dept. with the Lake Superior High School, chairman and main thrust behind the Contest is - to be commended for his excellent organization of the Contest and analysis of the Results. STUDENTS ENTERTAIN FOR HOSPITAL FUND: On Thursday 1977 06 16, the students of St. Martin School put on a Spring Concert with all ,. . proceeds donated to the McCausland Hospital Building Fund. The programme included a var- ,iety of numbers that, judging from audience reaction, were very enjoyable. The Kindergar- ten children, all dressed up as clowns, sang, recited and danced to circus music; the Grade 1 class, attired in Dutch costumes, moved gai- ly to the "Dance of the Wooden Shoes", and the Grade 2/3 children, in colourful Indian cos- tumes, complete with human totem pole, staged a ceremonial Indian dance. And there were plays, too! The 4/5 Class dramatized a story about Canada Day celebration in a Mexican vil- lage and the 7/8 students presented a humours ous 'tale about the 0ld West, Badlands Bally-= hoo, complete with sheriff and bad guy. The music was provided by the Grade 2/3 children, the 4/5 recorder class, Grade 8 stu ---dents playing their own percussion composi~ tions, the Ukulele Club, returning from per- . formances in Nipigon and Red Rock, and the School Choir which sang, Joseph and the Amaz- ing Technicolor Dreamcoat. A special feature during the choir presen« tation was the background provided by slides of pictures depicting the story, painted by students from grades 4 to 6. The programme concluded with a song dedicated to Father Fujarczuk by all the students for his contribu -tion to the school. .It was a wonderful opportunity for the par- ents to view the progress made by their child- ren during the year, as well as a chance for the students to contribute to the community. The performance raised $107.50 for the Hospi- . tal Fund.
