x Public Library Terrace Bay, Ont. socoore : rae a TERRACE BAY NEWS VOL. 20 NO. 27 io dUBY6, T0977 i 20¢ PER COPY MINISTRY OF HEALTH FINALLY APPROVES THE McCAUSLAND HOSPITAL SKETCH PLAN =~ On Tuesday, June 28th, I977, Mr. Bain telephoned Mr. Paul Mathew, the Hospital Adminis- trator giving verbal approval of the final sketch plan submitted to the Ministry on June 24th, I977. Mr. Bain, Executive Director of the Institutional Planning Branch, Ministry of Health, told Mr. Mathew that a special meeting of Ministry Consultants was held in order to give approval. The final working drawings will be submitted to the Ministry early in July, I977. : The final step in the approval process is "working drawings", followed by tendering of the contract. The Ministry personnel are "very aware" of the difficulties with winter constzuction here, so are co-operating splendidly to assure that we do begin construction this fall. : The approved sketch plan meets the Ministry requirement of 29,555 gross square feet. To accomplish this, we have had to eliminate the enclosed ambulance entrance, the hydro- therapy pool area, the offices for Childrens Aid, Northern Affairs and reduce patient room size. The "pods" - the four .(4) bed ward that gave each patient a window has been eliminated, as these required more footage than standard two (2) or four (4) bed patient rooms. -- : So we are going into construction of the new hospital in the next three (3) months, and now is when we really need the money coming in. So check your pledges, renew them, make your annual donation or buy your life membership now. Get ready to sidewalk super- vise the construction.
