PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE 22, 1977 CHIMO CLUB: : Twenty-six members of the Chimo Club attend -ed the June 17th meeting, preceded by a pot- luck supper. Helen Wallace, president, conducted the business meeting which followed, with minutes of the last meeting and treasurer's report. These were adopted as read by Beatrice McCuaig and W.T. Wallace 'and W.G. Gerow. Motions of gratitude were passed for the voluntary work done by Frank Driscoll, Norman McCuaig, Russell Macadam, Bill Gerow and Ar- nold Almos, and to the women members who've kept the club open from April 15th until, the new custodian, Etta Gray, takes up her duties. Members were reminded of the Church service on June 19th, in St. Andrew's United Church. The recent draw was most successful. The Club is most grateful for the public's support | but, no further one will be run, until Septem- ber. 9 Plans were made to provide the dessert for the dinner visit to Birchwood Home, in Terrace Bay. The Club will pay for the catering. Those wishing to attend are to meet at the Club. at 2 p.m. : Many members were interested in accepting the invitation of the Silver Club, Nipigon, to a social afternoon and dinner. Arrangements for travel will be made. The event is on June 30th. 3 ; > i Birthday gifts, with a toast in song, were raffled honouring Clarice Lawrence, Lily Wil- son and "Nim" Wallace. Mary Chadwell, social secretary, reported sending cards to sick members, mentioning Virginia (Ginny) McCuaig, of Thunder Bay, and others. : ; Lionel Waghorn, Pharmacist of Terrace Bay, gave a most interesting talk. He was warmly welcomed by the Club and brought gifts -- which were promptly consumed. Much time was spent in a Question and Answer period after his talk. ~ SOCIAL: Mrs. Betty Miller, nee Campbell, and her daughters, Glenda and Darlene, have come from New Zealand to 'make their home in Canada. Mrs. Miller and Glenda having already found empley- ment - Glenda as Dentist Assistant in Thunder Bay and Betty in Terrace Bay. Mrs. Dwight Marshall, nee Carol Ann Campbell and her daughters, Kim and Jackie of Paducah, Kentucky are here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Joe Campbell 'and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gerow. Mr. Marshall will join them shortly. FIRST AID TIP IF SOMEONE IS CHOKING ® Remove any obvious obstructions such as food, gum and false teeth by sweeping the finger around inside the mouth and throat ® If the casu- alty is an infant, hold it up by the legs and smack it smartly 3 or 4 times between the shoulders. It should dislodge any foreign body ® Give artificial respiration if necessary ® |f the casualty is a child, lay it over your knee head downwards. Give it 3 or 4 slaps between the shoulders to dislodge the obstruction. Apply artificial respiration if necessary. The person will conduct a guide training program at White Water Lodge, a fly-in establishment, north of:~ Armstrong, Ontario. . All aspects of guiding will be covered with stress e placed upon the unique interpersonal relationship between guide and client, The instructor should have extensive experience in guiding and tourist industry, preferably in Northwestern x Ontario, Experience working with groups, expecially native people, will be an asset.
