MAY 11, 1977 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 MARY CHADWELL CELEBRATES 75TH BIRTHDAY During the afternoon and evening of Wednes- day, April 27th, friends of Mrs. Mary Chadwell arrived to help her celebrate her 75th birth- day. A come and go tea was held atgthe home of Mrs. Jewel Scott. Present were members of the Chimo Club, the Afternoon and Evening Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church, friends from Pinewood Court and neighbours. Thanks to Rita Corrigan and Jean Fisher for their help in the kitchen! Many lovely gifts were received, also con- gratulations by phone from out of town friends and relatives. Attending from out of town was Mrs. Chad- well's daughter, Mrs. Rudy Lewkoski of Midland Ontario. Mrs. Lewkoski spent a week in Terrace Bay. CHURCH NEWS: The Ladies Auxiliary to the Community Church held a meeting on May 2nd. President Helen Brooks chaired the meeting and read the opening prayer. " Cathy Notwell presented the worship, the theme being friendship. Minutes of the April meeting were adopted and the treasurers report was accepted. A \ donation was made to the "Flowers of Hope" campaign of the Mentally Retarded Association, Schreiber /Terrace Bay. Margaret-Anne Clough presented an idea called, "Voluntary Road Toll" to raise money for the McCausland Hospital Building Fund. This idea has been favourably -accepted by the Auxiliary and community. This will be put into practise on May 23rd. Local youths will be approached to help. November is still a long way off, but the Bazaar plans are well underway with a few table convenors already working on their pro- jects. Cathy Notwell is the Convenor. Pam' Jones is in charge of the "Church Archives" and would appreciate any news con- cerning the McKague familys' five years here in Terrace Bay. « Various committee reports were received. Following the business section of the meet- ing, Mr. Ed Trapp of the Terrace Bay St. John Ambulance Brigade, and two of his cadets, Carman Trapp and Kathryn Lang were the guests. They presented an interesting and informative + talk and demonstration on "accidents in the home". A question and answer period followed, being continued over lunch. Programme Committee chairman, Cathy Notwell thanked Mr. Trapp and his two cadets for their visit. MINOR HOCKEY ANNUAL MEETING MAY 18TH 7:00 P.M.
