This publication which is free of charge is available at any office of the Ministry of Labour or Northern Affairs Office. ; The following are some excerpts from this pamphlet: =- MINIMUM WAGE - the Ontario minimum wage for students working in general industry is $2.15 an hour. This applies to students under 18 To who work 28 hours or less in a week or during school holidays. A student 18 years-or over must be paid the minimum rate of $2.65 per hour. If students work more than 28 hours a week during the school year they are entitled to the regular minimum wage of $2.65 hourly. This applies to all hours worked in a week and not just to those in excess of 28. Students in the construction industry must be paid at least $2.90 per hour. EQUAL PAY - The Employment Standards Act sti- pulates that men and women must receive equal pay for equal work. Differentials in wages are permitted if they are based on such factors as seniority, merit or quantity or quality of work. They may not be based solely on the sex of the worker.
