The Ladies Auxiliary to Royal Canadian Leg- 'ion, Br. 109 at the May 2nd meeting agreed to sponsor the Red Shield Campaign in May - this being a project they have carried out for many years, most successfully. Final plans were made for the annual birth ~day party to be held on Sat. May 14th. Three new members were initiated and wel- comed - Betty-Ann McKenna, Judith Davis and Mrs. Jayne Santerre. Minutes of the last meeting, and the fin- ancial statement were adopted as read by Earline Johnson and Rena Ross. : The birthday gift was won by Earline Johnson. Lunch committee for June will be Myrtle , Zaporzan, Gail Welbourne and Victoria Winters. RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO CLEAN THEIR PREMISES OF ALL WASTE MATERIALS AND DEBRIS, IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE THE , TOWN PRESENTABLE TO VISITORS AND A 'CREDIT TO THE COMMUNITY, REEVE AND COUNCIL TOWNSHIP OF SCHREIBER National Week 107 The Mentally Retarded MAY 8 to MAY 14. 1877 WHEREAS MENTAL RETARDATION is among - the greatest chronic afflictions of children and adults; and WHEREAS it is now known that with proper training and the opportunity to develop their skills, they can grasp the joy of achievement and can come a long way towards in- dependent living; and WHEREAS this community can benefit both socially and economically from the training and education of the mentally retarded; and WHEREAS the Schreiber-Terrace Bay As- sociation for the Mentally Re- tarded is a voluntary associa- tion of citizens enabling us all to work together to achieve the goals of training and educating the retarded; and , WHEREAS at this time, the Schreiber- Terrace Bay Association for the Mentally Retarded is seeking public support and understanding for its programme on behalf of the mentally retarded who |ive in our midst and who need our help: J» <.
