APRIL 6, 1977 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 ARTHRITIS SOCIETY FORMED A new Terrace Bay/Schreiber/Rossport Branch of the Arthritis Society was formed last Thursday evening at the Hospital Administration Office, Birchwood Terrace when Mr. Mauri Val- lee, the Field Representative of the Arthritis Society of Ontario was speaker of the evening. The executive is as follows: President - Margaret Puttock; Vice President - Mr. E. Kettle; Secretary-Treasurer - Mr. Alex Krystia; Publicity - Mrs. J. Rattray; Campaign Chairman - Terrace Bay - Mrs. C. Haas, Schreiber - Mrs. ; D. Rummery. Knights of Cloumbus from across Northwestern Ontario met with the volunteer Branch of the Arthritis Society in Thunder Bay on Saturday, April 2nd, to develop plans for public informa- tion and fund raising. Dr. Barry Koehler, Rheu ; =matatologist and Clinical Director of the Rheumatic Diseases facility of St. Joseph's "Hospital, Thunder Bay, centered his presenta- tion on "Arthritis, What is it, and what can be done about it". September is Arthritis Month, and the vol- unteers designated the week of September 18th - 24th as the official campaign week for the . . Northwestern Region. Volunteers and Knights of Columbus attending the meeting in Thunder Bay, recognizing that they must work towards doubling arthritis support in the next five years, agreed to develop public education and campaign programs in every community in the area, convinced that arthritis will be conquered in the foreseeable future. EIGHT ENDER AT LOCAL BONSPIEL The Terrace Bay Ladies' 23rd Annual Bons spiel which was a huge success was held on March 25th, 26th and 27th, with Rhea Beaulieu rink being victorious. Many exciting games were witnessed during the week-end, but Friday night will be long remembered by the White River Rink when they scored an eight ender, needless to say the first for many curlers to witness (congratu- lations girls). On Friday and Saturday nights live enter- tainment was supplied by Gerry Dupas and Toni Commisso which was enjoyed by all. The final games got under way Sunday after -noon with the winners being as follows: A Event - 1 - Rhea Beaulieu, Marjorie Liebrock, Pat Fenton, Nancy Evoy. 2 - Lillian Gendron, Cathy Radul, Billie Bagdon, Lola Spadoni.
