McCuaig bonspiel in Schreiber and the followinglrelations were curling: Doris (McCuaig) Gauthier, Myrna Lynn Gauthier, Audrey (McCuaig) Morgan and husband, Mike, Betty (McCuaig) Huard, Roy Huard, Barbara Huard, Betty Ann and Maurice Blier, Pat Bour- guignon of Schreiber; Jim McCuaig and Myrna McCuaig of Thunder Bay. Judy Davis, also of Thunder Bay was here for the event. The draw for the hundred dollar gold piece was won by Linda Singleton. A smorgasbord dinner and dance ended the spiel. Winners in the events were: FIRST EVENT - lst - Bob Nesbitt, Kelly McParland, Craig Fischer, Marilyn Kujbida; 2nd - Trent Desaul- niers, Julie Randa, Werner Hermes, Joan Le- Pointe; 3rd - Edgar Ray rink; 4th - Joe Fig- liomeni rink. SECOND EVENT - lst = Fred McColeman, Ruth Hiller, Jim Bryson, Betty Ann McKenna; 2nd - John St. Amond, Terri Birch, John Niemcaw, Terri Morris; 3rd - Audrey Morgan rink; 4th - Giovanni Cebrario rink. THIRD EVENT - lst - Charlotte Miller, Russ Saarinen, Billie Ann Saarinen, Andy Miller; 2nd - Pat Halonen, Lorraine Huard, Betty Ann and Maurice Blier; 3rd - Bill McDougall rink; 4th - Brian Chateadver rink.. The biggest end went to Charlotte Miller's rink. . SCHREIBER C.W.L. MEETING President Lorette McParland, at the March 13th meeting of the Catholic Women's League in Schreiber, reported she and Marjory Spacek;- the treasurer, had attended the meeting of the Association for the Mentally Retarded on March 10th in Terrace Bay. She also reported on filling in the nomination form and returning it to the Diocesan nominating committee. She asked for names- of members interested in at- tending the Right To Life Festival in Ottawa in May. , Sister Marvel, Spiritual Convener; said fourteen C.W.L. members has attended the World Day of Prayer and that a retreat is to be held in May at the Avila Centre in Thunder Bay. ' Gloria Mullins, Resolutions and Legisla- tion, read an article in the Canadian League Winter 76-77 on the one per cent Resolution in which one gives one per cent of our .-person- al expenditures plus one per cent of the money raised by each League Parish council to Development and Peace Fund. A resolution was passed at the National Convention last August in Fredricton to divert this to fund projects designated to provide pure water throughout 'the world. Members were asked to write the Prime Minis -ter and local M.P.P. objecting to pornographic, magazines, etc. being sold in our cities and towns. Each Parish Council has been Ssked to desig- , nate an afternoon where the Blessed Sacrament could be exposed to pray for the unborn child. A notice will be placed in the back of the church on which 25 year members are asked to place their name, in order that they may be presented with a pin or scroll. Standing conveners are asked to prepare four copies of their reports to be given to the © president before March 31st. The Diocesan convention will be heia May 10, 11 and 12 in Fort Frances. & Sister Marvel and Leanne Beauparlant agreed to work on the nominating committee. The president thanked those who had worked on the committee for the annual parish social which had been an -outstanding success. _The minutes of the previous meeting. and the treasurer's report read by Marion Henri and Marjory Spacek were adopted. @ ] its Tilden fn.
