PAGE 16 TERRACE BAY NEWS FEBRUARY 9, 1977 LADIES OPEN BONSPIEL The Schreiber Ladies Curling Club open Bonspiel was most successful with fourteen rinks entered, including two from Thunder Bay, five from Terrace Bay and the Femaining seven from Schreiber. The most apparent feature of the occasion was the good will between all the rinks, most rewarding to those in charge of the event - Charlotte Miller, Chairman; Linda Figliomeni and Jackie Miller, Prize Committee and Erline Johnson, whose committee served a cold plate supper on Friday and a banquet on Saturday. ~ The winners were as follows: First Event - Terrace Bay - Rhea Beaulieu (skip), Marge Liebrock, Joyce Mercier and Pat Fenton; Runner -up: Ida Romanuk Rink, Terrace Bay. Second Event - Terrace Bay - Norma Crockford (skip), Betty Randa, Shirley Caron and Norma Gusul; Runner-up: Bina Welbourne rink, Schreiber. Third Event - Thunder Bay - Dorothy Mills (skip) , Zella Lehtovaara, Norma Polhill, Georgie Johnson; Runner-up: Ruth Hiller rink, Schreiber. Biggest end went to Bina Welbourne rink - Schreiber. NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO SPORTS HALL OF FAME An Ad Hoc Committee of the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, composed of Fred Bragnalo, Edgar Laprade and Ken Cunningham, will be in Terrace Bay in the Conference Room of the Recreation Centre from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14th. The object of the visit is to obtain input from interested parties and share information on plahs for the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. First conceived several years ago by mem- bers of the Central Committee of the Royal Can -adian Legion, sponsors of the annual Sports Celebrity Dinner, the idea has blossomed dur- ing the past year, thanks to the initiative of the committee. A committee of thirteen persons gleaned from a cross-section of interested societies and sports organizations, as well as general sportsmen, were invited to participate in a type of steering committee to launch the' Sports Hall of Fame Committee. Monthly and by-monthly meetings have been held during the past year.
