DECEMBER I5, I976 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 3 PROVINCIAL PARKS: By W.K. Robinson Senior Lands & Parks Technician Winter has arrived and former park users are now turning their attention to other recreational activities. Parks staff are presently completing the analysis of parks statistics for this past season to determine trends in park visitation. This data will assist them in planning for park development in existing and planned parks. Locally there has been a slight increase in the number of visitors and camper days for Rainbow Falls Provincial Park while there was a slight decrease for Neys Provincial Park. A new shower and laundromat complex was operational this year at Rainbow Falls Park and judging by comments received has attract- ed many new visitors. A road paving project at this park had to be halted because of cold weather this fall. The remainder of the paving will be completed next spring. The Rossport campground area, twelve miles west of Schreiber forms an extension of Rainbow Falls Park. Originally developed to handle overflow from Rainbow Falls, the site has become an attractive area for those who enjoy camping along the scenic Rossport area shoreline. A visitors activity centre is under con- struction at Neys Park. This building will " provide a workshop for the parks interpretive program consisting of films, childrens pro- .grams, exhibitions of historic artifacts and lectures on the area's natural history. The centre will be in operation next spring. All parks in this area will be opened again on June 3, I977.
