PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS DECEMBER 1, Lo7e. NUMBER OF TRAILERS HAS INCREASED TO EIGHTY-FIVE IN TERRACE HEIGHTS Present at the November 24th meeting of the Terrace Bay Town Council were Councillors Peggy Helmink, Cy Brassard and Joe Kennedy, Town Clerk Bill Hanley and Secretary Marg Simmer. Marjorie Hamilton attended the meet- ing as a. prospective Town Councillor for the New Year. Cy Brassard, Acting Reeve for the meeting presented a problem to the Council regarding the salary of the Town Meter Reader for Ontar- io Hydro. When the Meter Reader was hired there were only 24 trailers in Terrace Heights Now the trailers have increased to 85. How- ever, due to AIB rules the salary cannot be increased. The Councillors discussed the problem with the result that a request will be made to the Anti-Inflation Board to con- sider the particular details of this case. Correspondence brought forward at the meet- ing included a letter from McCausland Hospital 'Board regarding the New Hospital, a letter to Hon. Darcy McKeough concerning the DREE/Ontar- io agreement, from Mr. John Gross on future curbing on Princess Avenue, a request from the Minor Hockey to hold a Peanut Blitz, a draft application for a Community School Development Grant for the Library and from G.J. Dupas re- garding vandalism at the Recreation Centre. Future curbing of the lots once occupied by garage complexes was discussed as per John Gross' letter and it was decided that such a plan should be seriously considered in the 1977 budget. Permission was granted to the Minor Hockey to hold their Peanut Blitz to raise money for their program. % As had been requested by the Council at their previous meeting Ken MacLeod had pro- vided a draft of the application to the Com- munity School Development Grant for monies to improve the Library program. Since the ap- plication in no way implied that the Town Coun -cil might be obligated to finance the program in future years, the Councillors had no objec- tion. G.J. Dupas was concerned at the amount of vandalism occuring at the Recreation Centre and was interested in seeing sterner measures taken with those involved. While the Council was also concerned with the damage to the Rec- reation Centre, it was not certain how the problem could be handled any differently. However, it was decided to refer the problem to the Police Department. New Business included a Resolution to hire David Helmink as Maintenance-Caretaker for the SNOWMOBILE INSURANCE INSURE AGAINST INJURY AND DAMAGE TO YOUR | MACHINE AND AGAINST LEGAL LIABILITY.
