ESKO AUTIO NEW PUBLIC SCHOOL TRUSTEE The Lake Superior Board of Education held their Meeting No. II/76 on Monday, September 20th, I976 at the Marathon High School. The minutes of Meeting No. I0/76 held on September I6, I976 were approved. Mr. Esko Autio was sworne in as a Public School Trustee to fill the vacancy created by Mrs. L. Gelding who recently emigrated to 'Australia. The List of Disbursements for the month of - August, in the total amount of $302,110.64, was approved. Mr. Ken Bacon, of Graham, Bacon & Welter Architects, opened the tenders from contrac- tors interested in building the Shop Addition to Manitouwadge High School. The contract was awarded to Boggs Construction Limited of Thunder Bay. Work will begin almost immediat- ely and it is hoped that the addition will be completed before Christmas. A report, with recommendations, was pre- pared by W.L. Wardrop & Associates Limited Engineering Consultants on alternative methods of heating the Marathon High School. Night School Programs will be offered in all of the schools in the division. The Fig- ure Skating will also be supported by the Board as in I975-76 for as long as the Minis- try of Education continues to pay a grant for skating programs. The Ministry of Education is currently examining the nature of some of the recreational programs offered in night schools and they have indicated that changes in the grant structure for such programs will soon be made. A small parcel of land owned by the Board in Rossport will be tendered through adver- tising in the local newspapers. It was agreed that in future, 'all tax sales would be sold via tendering. Cont'd page 2 ... A GREAT WAY TO SAVE Two prominent investment dealers will dir- ect payroll savings sales for this year's: Canada Savings .Bond Campaign in Ontario. Ronald N. Fraser of Totonto, and Ralph Hager of Kitchener will spearhead the two- month CSB Campaign on the payroll savings front in Ontario. The payroll campaign. -gets under way in mid-September and ends Nov. I5. Over this period, 37 CSB organizers will visit some 2,500 business and industrial es- tablishments in Ontario to help set up payroll savings plans for the purchase of the new Ser- ies by employees. More than $I85 million worth of Canada Sav -ings Bonds was purchased by a quarter of a million employees through payroll savings plans in Ontario last year. Mr. Fraser will direct organizers in the Central East Region, which embraces Toronto, Northern and Eastern Ontario, while Mr. Hager will direct the activities of organizers in the Central West Region, which takes in the Hamilton-Niagara area as well as Southwestern Ontario. Mr. Fraser, a resident of Toronto, has been in the securities field since I957, and is associated with a Toronto investment firm. A Torontonian, Mr. Hager has had an active career in sales management in Kitchener and in recent years has been associated with Canada Savings Bond Campaigns with a Kitchener invest -ment dealer. Mr. Hager has been assistant director for payroll sales in Central Ontario West since I973. He succeeds David R. Dattels, who served as Central Ontario West director for almost I0 years. Mr. Dattels, a prominent investment dealer, has been associated with Canada Sav- ings Bonds payroll sales since the first issue in I946. Continued page 3 «veces
