Constable Aulenbach, Terrace Bay Police Department, has now completed Phase Two of a Three Phase School programme in Bicycle Safety. The final phase, Inspection of Bicycles, was completed on Saturday May 8th. {4 It is interesting to note that the Honour- able James Snow, Minister of Transportation and Communication, in a recent correspondence to all schools, strongly urged that Bicycle : Safety be included in school curriculum. Our i local Terrace Bay Police Dept., has made this vital programme a part of our school instruc- tion for the past several years. During the week ending May 9 a total of nineteen occurrences were investigated. May 3rd - A minor disturbance was investigated with no charges being laid. May 5th - The theft of approximately $2,000. in boat parts was reported and is under inves- tigation. May 7th - A minor theft from the brewers re- tail delivery truck was reported. Two youths were later cautioned for this offence. May 8th - An accident occurred on Kenogami Rd. { when a local resident ran into the back of a | parked car. Damage was estimated at $1,600. i and a charge of careless driving was laid. Two minor accidents were reported during t the week. Six motor vehicles were safety checked and three charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act. On Saturday, May 8 the Terrace Bay Police Dept. held their annual Bicycle Rodeo at the Arena. 138 students participated with a © number of parents attending as spectators. The police department would like to thank the following people for their assistance as jud- ges: Wanda Aulenbach, Diane Jones, Dora Trach and Reg Northcott.
