UNITED CHURCH WOMEN Rev. Brian Bigelow and Rev. Ralph Magee, the later being from North Bay, representing the Canadian Bible Society were welcomed as guests by Mrs. Beth Macadam at the May 5 meet- ing of the United Church Women. Members of the Catholic Women's League were also welcomed as guests. During the brief business meeting a dona- tion of $25.00 was made to the Bible Society. Mrs. Norma Fummerton reported the recent dinner catered for had been financially suc- cessful. Those who worked at it were thanked. Mrs. Macadam read a poem and a prayer as a memoriam for two late members - Mrs. Jessie Macadam and Mrs. Pearl Rattray. Mrs. Margaret Smith gave a lengthy report on cards and flowers sent, and visits paid to local people sick or bereaved. : It was agreed to go to local restaurant for the dinner preceding the June meeting and sum- mer recess. After the dinner the regular meet -ing will be held in the Church Hall with a Bring and Buy Table, and various contests ar= ranged and a Penny Auction. Hostesses for this will be Mesdames Della Moore, Lilyan Christie, Norma Fummerton and Margaret Smith. Following the meeting Rev. Magee described the work and aims of the Bible Society, in far places in the world, and showed a film.
