PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS LEGION BR. 109 SWEETHEART BONSPIEL The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 109 Annual Sweetheart Bonspiel held twelve rinks compet- ing. The Bonspiel began Friday evening and continued through Saturday with a smorgasbord served at the Legion Hall followed by dancing to music by Doug Moore. The first event winners of the Labatt's Prize went to the team of Bak Bagdon, Wendy Martin, Billie Bagdon and Justin Martin. The prize was presented by Mel Busby, Labatt's representative. Second, third and fourth rinks were the J. Hamblin, E. LeBlanc and B. Harper rinks. The second event winners consisted of H. Spikula, Charlotte Miller, Ted Wilson -and Rena Ross. Prizes were presented by Borden Ross on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion. Second, third and fourth rinks were the D. Tremblay, K. Gellert and L. Fraser rinks. Winners in the third event were Fred McCol- eman, L. Huard, C. Wilson and E. Greig. Lorraine Weaver, president of the Ladies Aux- iliary to the Royal Canadian Legion made this presentation. Second, third and fourth plac- es went to the B. Harper, D. Moore and R. Hil- ler rinks. MARCH. MEETING OF RUBY REBEKAH LODGE The Ruby Rebekah Lodge held their regular meeting on Wednesday, March 10 with Mrs. Geor- gina Davis V.G. as N.G. and Mrs. Alice Sparkes P.N.G. as V.G. presiding. Mrs. Davis gave the Sick and Visiting Re- port. Mrs. N. Fummerton was reported as a patient in McKellar Hospital. Sympathy cards were sent to Mrs: A. Sparkes and Mrs. H. Mc- Bride. : Correspondence included: many notes from out of town members with donations to the Bakeless Bake Sale, the March project; thank you note from F. Harness; a request from the Ontario Research Programme sponsored by the members of all branches of the Order, for fin- ancial assistance. This programme continues to encompass the support of a Research Bio- Chemist at the University of Toronto, Dr. Y. Matuk, M.D. as well as the Amblyopia Project for the checking of pre school age children for eye deficiencies. Where local committees now operating within the Order, and .sponsoring this project, are meeting with tremendous suc- cess with amazing results. Eye Pledge Cards are available through the Ontario Research Committee. Help someone to see - through your gift of sight. Mrs. Helen Wallace gave the CPT Humanitar- ian Committee report on the recent Penny Auc- tion and Grocery Hamper Draw which was most successful. Mr. Pont Gordon won the Hamper Draw. Following the meeting a "Musical White El- ephant" was held and lunch enjoyed. A Penny Auction will be held following the next meeting on March 24 with a Pot Luck lunch. Members to donate a couple of prizes plus their own choice of lunch. BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY CONCESSIONAIRE - TERRACE BAY MEMORIAL ~~ RECREATION CENTRE The Township of Terrace Bay will have avail- able for lease all of the concessions within the Recreation Centre which include: snack bar; lounge; arena refreshment booth and bowling alleys. _ Major equipment such as cash registers, grills, fryers, dishwasher etc. are provid- ed by the Township as part of the concession lease as well as many miscellaneous items of metalware. Concessions will be available for May 16th, 1976. Further information and particulars may be obtained by contacting the undersigned.
