A variety night will be held in December for the Guides and Brownies. All girls will be asked to participate in something, singing dancing or skits. A joint Halloween party is to be held for the Brownies. The District Annual meeting will be held at the Community Church Hall at 7:30 p.m. Mon- day October 27th. All parents of Guides and Brownies are welcome. One more adult helper is required for Pack 1 Brownies, to help M. Saranpaa. RECREATION DEPARTMENT WEEKLY REPORT LEVEL 3 COACHES CLINIC Please refer to bottom of page for details regarding a Level 3 Coaches Clinic which will be held in Marathon on November 22nd and 23rd. This Coaches Clinic is for the entire area, as was the Level 2 Coaches Clinic held last year in Terrace Bay. If you are interested in be- ing certified as a Level 3 coach, you can re- gister with the Terrace Bay Recreation Office for the clinic. ARENA AND CURLING ICE Due to an unfortunate ice plant breakdown on October 23rd and 24th, all ice in the curl- ing rink and the arena was lost. A second at- tempt to install ice has now been started but unfortunately we are not in a position to an- nounce exactly when ice will be ready for use. Every effort is being made to install the ice as quickly as possible; therefore, keep wat- ching the News for opening dates for the arena and curling rink. SPECIAL PROGRAMMES As advertised previously the Recréation Office is still working on details on Cross- Country Skiing, Yoga, Weaving (on loom), Hoc- key (no body contact) and Basketball. November 22nd - Tea and Bazaar, Community Ch- urch Hall, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT During the week of October 26th a total of 29 occurences were investigated. The theft of stereo tapes from parked veh-. icles is being investigated. As reported last week houses on Lakeview Drive had been broken into and damage in the region of $I700. was committed. Two juveniles were arrested and charged with this offense. During the investigation they admitted a break, enter and theft at a local residence last week where approximately $150. and a coin collection was stolen. Most of the property was recovered. They also admitted to a number of other break, enter and thefts at residences and business establishments dur- ing the past year. The Police Department apparently set their sights a little too high as the elder of this duo was 13 years of age and the younger 10. Also on October 20 reports of thefts of newspapers from delivery boys was reported and has resulted in 4 juveniles being interviewed and cautioned. Again on the 20th, two I3 year olds and a I0 year old were interviewed and cautioned garding thefts from a local motel. The theft of a number of radios and clocks was reported and is under investigation. On October 26th the theft of a Ski-doo tr- ailer was reported. Also on this date a motor vehicle stolen from Thunder Bay was located in Terrace Bay. 3 charges were laid under the Highway Traff- ic Act, 2 charges were laid under the Liquor Control Act, 9 motor vehicles were safety che- cked and 6 warnings issued. TERRACE BAY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY A Directors meeting was held on October 23 at the home of president Mrs. Hilda Hiebert.
